Mid-Latin. If you get it, then the point is made. That sort-of-Latin appears to read: Illegitimi non carborundum.
I get it.
Mine is not appropriate for showing these days. It is from the all-male era. I also have a T-Shirt from a very illicit competition within my company classmates and I that involved alcohol in significant quantities within the confines of the yard. NO BLACK N's WERE AWARDED but in retrospect, it was a significant indiscretion on our parts.Since we are talking Latin, I went to the Vault of USNA Artifacts, 20th century exhibit, and broke out DH’s plebe year coffee mug. That was a period when they switched companies after plebe year, but he started out in 24th and graduated from 6th.
Note the company motto. Some things are a constant at USNA.

I hear you. I would venture to say the “limited edition” sea story compendium from various posters here would rate the necessity of being briefed in a SCIF. Myself included.Mine is not appropriate for showing these days. It is from the all-male era. Thank you! They are called Dixie Cups. Without being there it could be related to them maybe forgetting their cover and having to carry extra so they ‘won’t forget.’ As to the boots... who knows. Maybe fittings or something.
It’s not uncommon if a Plebe forgers something they have to carry an extra around, say the wrong gender as in sir or ma’am and write out 100 differences, or lots of other creative ideas. Every Plebe and actually service member is taught to always have a pen and small pocket notebook. Plebes carry theme everywhere. My best friend had a plebe who could never remember a pen. So every time he forgot the amount he had to carry doubled. He had to name them, form them up and account for them for weeks. It was hysterical but he would come to meals with handfuls of pens. He eventually learned to always have a pen.
You’re welcome.This thread
I have another Plebe Summer question. I saw pictures from the Yard today of Plebes doing various things. One group in particular - the majority of the Plebes were not carrying anything - but two in the group were carrying an extra dixie cap (what do you call those things officially?) in their hands in addition to the one they were wearing, and I believe two were carrying a pair of boots. Think this was a "learning experience" for something? Maybe for forgetting their cap/the right shoes? I've seen the multiple nametags being worn and think that's ingenious! Open for speculation....
@Kierkegaard you're awesome - thank you!!Good ole “double covers”. Classic punishment during the academic year or Plebe Summer for those who either forget their cover or fail to “plebe” it (an uncomfortable way of holding it when indoors).
Based on photos I saw today, there are a lot of smiling plebes. Saw my plebe in a run, he looked sopping wet but wasn't gassed so that was cool. Lots of smiles in pool, sailing and confidence course. The jumps off of the platform had me laughing so hard. That was worth the price of admission to USNA alumnus photo program, and not one of them was my kid! Still cracked me up. I do love a good game of Yahtzee..
It’s awful quiet .... anyone up for a game of Dominoes, or maybe Yahtzee?

There were tons of pics on the alumni photo program today. Guessing close to half the companies listed.Same thing here, the only pictures I can see are in Flickr. So you can see more pictures somewhere else? Can you share links?
Thanks
