I've posted on this forum before, about my USNA TWE and NROTC 4 Year National scholarship TWE. I've been accepted under the College Program at RPI for NROTC, and have received my NSI assignment, Iteration 3, which begins next week.
I'm coming on to say, that I'm nervous for NSI, is that an okay feeling to have ?

My DD is nervous too. I think that is totally normal! Just remember everyone likely feels that way. Hopefully you make some friends quickly. What are you most nervous about?

Absolutely, it's ok to be nervous. But you've got this! You're going to do great!

My son will be there as well. And yes, he's nervous. ❤️

Most people survive NSI. You will too, and will come out a more confident and better person at the end. No doubt fitter and a better teammate too. It's normal to be nervous. You've got this. Really.

Nothing wrong with being nervous. A little fear is a powerful motivator. Just understand that it is meant to be difficult no matter how you perform. Be a good teammate, turn off your brain and just do what you are told. Do these things and you will be fine.

We grow most through overcoming our fears and challenges. Going through the hard times, and making it out the other side.

Your feelings are normal.

And when this is in the rear view window, you will be so proud of yourself. You will have grown. You will haves learned you can do things you never knew you could.

As others have said, you got this 😤

Come back and let us know how you did.

The whole reason I started on this forum was last summer a couple days before Iday. I made it to Annapolis, I was a lone plebe to be (that was even my moniker, plebe2be) and I was going to bail. Mostly because I was scared because of so much responsibility, but I was also scared for myself - what if I can't take it? What if I'm not good enough? These good people talked me down, I went through Iday and plebe summer, and I'm now a rising youngster. (3rd class mid, sophomore in college) Since then I've been through more experiences than I can count where I was anxious or even a little scared before it started, but then I did it and it was no big deal. I am so glad I kept going last summer. Now with just a year of experience being an adult, I think I'm much better equipped than so many other barely-18-year-olds!

You can develop that muscle too. I have never been to NSI and I have no idea how it compares to USNA's plebe summer. Knowing what I know about military indoctrination, I'm positive there are some commonalities. Anyone they pick can do these things, which means you for sure can do it.

Congrats on getting tapped as a programmer too! Go ahead and be nervous or even scared - just keep going. "Fear and courage can coexist" my gunny says and he's totally right. (Also, do not call your gunny "gunny" until s/he tells you it's okay, use "Gunnery sergeant Lastname") Now go kick some butt!

College Program at RPI for NROTC
RPI has a very high rate for getting college programmers onto scholarship for those who put in the work (IE: meet the physical and academic requirements, and who put in the work for PT/custom and courtesies, good attitude etc.).

Again, a very very high rate for getting people onto scholarship (for a period of 3 years it was for every person who met the physical and academic requirements). Crush it at NSI, and get ready to put in the work! Best of luck, wishing you the best.
