Remaining Appointments?

Yeah I was a pound overweight, so they dq’d me. But I checked with admissions and I’m good on that now.

The BMI is not that great, I almost always fail in AFROTC by a single pound and then pass the body fat tape. Just a heavier built guy

Hi all!

Okay, without revealing "things" I am not at liberty to share at present...currently, just under 1000 offers have been made to the class of 2026, as of this morning. That's from USAFA/RRS today.

What is the total number to be made? I can't say (I don't know).

Now, my personal (ALO) thought. If you have heard nothing it does not mean you're not going to. It also doesn't mean you will either. I always work from a "plan B, C, D, in case" position. If you have not heard yet, start looking at Plan B "in case." You may need to implement it; you may not, but you won't know until you hear officially. In the meantime, let no deadlines go by re: Plan B.

This is a direct "cut/paste" from the information I have: "As offers are accepted and declined, we will see some additional offers thru May. Non-selects should work their backup plans, but keep watching." Note: if you haven't received a letter saying you are a "non-select" then at present, you're not.

I know this isn't what you want to hear; it's just me being realistic.

Well, that's disheartening. Time to start looking at either enlisting or getting into ROTC in the meantime. I've already started my CO 2027 application. It's really frustrating when you can't think of much that you can improve on.

Time sure does fly--I was supposed to be in CO 2025! I'm going to be an old man by the time USAFA feels that I deserve a slot.

I was a solid 40 lbs above my max weight for my height (according to USAFA standards) but passed the bodyfat test both years that I've applied. I heard that even if you fail the bodyfat test, you can receive an appointment and then go to Colorado to have them do a second bodyfat test (which presumably gives you enough time to lose some weight).

Truly disheartening, but I shall get ready for college and start working on my CO 2027 application :bang:

Just got a Falcon Foundation scholarship today; your chances are still high I bet
As a recipient of a FF scholarship myself, I am grateful to this day for the second chance. Looking back, I now know I needed that extra year to grow up a little before I got to The Zoo. I went to Valley Forge and still remain close to my VF Falcon plebe brothers to this day.

If you don’t receive the appointment, I hope you strongly consider going the FF route.

So we might not even hear back if we are rejected?

I've already started my CO 2027 application. It's really frustrating when you can't think of much that you can improve on.

There's always something, so here are two things to consider. Search this site for advice to and from former re-applicants. And don't forget the sticky on the top of the USNA forum that's pretty relevant to all academies. And then, once the acceptance season dies down, reach out to your admissions counselor or ALO to have them walk through your app with you and point out where it was weakest or strongest. It might have just been a numbers game in your case, but there's frequently a way to boost at least one aspect of any application.

Appointments are not over. My DS is a 3 degree cadet, but two years ago he received his appointment in April. If you take a look at old appointment threads, you will see many appointments are made after the "big March wave". In his year, the big March day for appointments was on March 10-- Many more appointments were made after that.
Thank you- I hope you’re right. Praying for my son…

I know they're on spring break right now. That's the only reason I could really see there not being one.
