I am currently sitting on alternate status for the 4-Year NROTC scholarship. I know I just need to wait but especially based on what I've seen about other applicants I'm unsure about my chances so I'm exploring other options. One such option I've heard about would be enlisting in the Naval Reserve then applying for the 3-Year scholarship with a hopefully more competitive packet since I'll have some college grades and reserve experience. Is this possible with the Navy Option including the 3-Year? I have a friend who's doing this with the Marine Corps and their recruiter told them they were also able to apply to Marine Option NROTC at the same time but I don't know if this works for the Navy as well.
I was also just curios as to if having experience enlisted in the reserve would help with my packet for the 3-year Scholarship and possibly placement after graduation. Any insight would be much appreciated.
