Revoke NROTC?/MO Scholarship?

Hello All,
I have been awarded a four year NROTC/MO Scholarship to TAMU. However, I am currently struggling in my AP Calculus BC class, and I may finish the semester with a D or below. I am working with my teacher to resolve the issues in my understanding of the material, but I was wondering how this will affect my scholarship. I checked TAMU's website and I don't believe they will rescind admission because I will still be able to graduate even without receiving credit for this class. Does anyone know if NROTC will revoke scholarships for these kinds of academic issues? Any help is appreciated.

Given the "AP", I assume you are in HS and talking about HS Calc, not college or dual-enrolled calculus.

In that event, it is WAY too early to speculate about your final grade. Keep working with your teacher and impress upon them that you need to get whatever score you need to get. Consider switching to non AP Calc or another math if you don't actually need calculus-- it is not a required class for MO cadets.

For any more questions like this, you would be better off calling the cadre at TAMU directly and talking to them. They are very friendly and can answer stuff like this a lot better (and more accurately) than random folks on the internet :)

Thank you for the advice, I will reach out to the TAMU Corps cadre.

@Freedom1776: this is opinion/ experience - not fact - but when my DS went through the process I think there were warnings about "finishing the last semester with equivalent grades..." or something like that. I can't remember if it came from the NROTC or the university paperwork. I also think the same warning said they would require the last semester transcript. I can not imagine that one D is going to affect your scholarship as long as your other grades are typical of your work. If this is a required class for graduation - that is a different story.

If you can't switch to another course, then I wish you luck turning things around.

Hey, you're welcome. And keep plugging away at Calc. It's easier than you think-- just have to "math" a different way and then it all clicks. Winds up being a heck of a lot easier than algebra (and faster).

Good luck!

Not NROTC advice, but as a fellow student struggling with AP Calc BC (it’s killer), have you looked into Khan Academy? I’ve been using it since AP Physics Sophomore year and it’s a God-send.

Some kids seem to just breeze through Calc like it’s nothing at my school! I wish!

I used to use it when I was a kid but I haven't thought about it in years. Thanks for reminding me, I'll make sure to start using it again!
