So I am going into my last year and a half of schooling (doing 4.5 years and then commissioning), And I have a question regarding doing a gap year. I am looking to apply to medical schools however my advisors have encouraged me to take a gap year in order to bolster my application. So my question is, if I choose Reserve or NG as my component, and do a gap year, how will getting into medical school be if I were to be accepted while in my Reserve/NG unit?

You would still be required to fulfill your USAR/ARNG drill and annual training obligations while in med school.
