Running in boots is hard...

Hey, I had stiff, old leather nailed onto cutout pieces of tractor tire for my boots.
Probably a lot more comfortable than the Boondockers that were issued to us on Induction Day. All of us had to wear shoes
and boots that were issued to us with no "Pre-I Day" break-in period.
I think that the Navy bought uncomfortable Boondockers to toughen us up.

Even back in MY day we had to wear some seriously heavy, un-broken in boots...boots now are basically sneakers

Agreed, but...to be fair, today's boots are like sneakers compared to what we had back in the day....

And yes, get off my lawn
Kids these days, geesh.

We definitely have it easier!

@Devil Doc Whoa, holy wayback, Batman. We were issued those in my JROTC program back in the mid-80s. Not comfortable because at the time I was passing through shoe sizes so rapidly that I never broke them in, and they were not easy for a 15 year old to get a shine on.

I was joking. I follow military training closely and in many areas it is more intense and difficult today than in my day.

My time in service was from 1977-2004 so that’s more than a snapshot in time.

So, your advice to break in boots is good advice regardless of era.

I don't know about you but everyone that I entered with started with brand new and unbroken-in shoes and wore issued underwear and socks. And I think all of us even packed our own stuff when we left home. ;)

😧 I don't know if I could survive!

(This is of course a joke, I could survive packing my own stuff...I think)
