STEM acceptances?

Just a guess based on Summer Seminar notifications. That application window closed on April 1 and all notices went out one week later on the 8th. If STEM is the same, once the application closes out today, April 15th, we should know in a week.

Either way, we'll hear by May 1st. :thumb:

I think since this is a rolling admission, most people notified after this point are probably not in.

My DS didn't get in again this year, guess we will need to plan a campus visit in the near future! Good luck to those still waiting!!

7000 people for 640 slots, thats like a 10.9% chance. Odds are NOT in our favor :(

STEM

Denied today.

I'm glad we are going to Georgia Tech STEM.

Maybe next year. Good luck to everyone.

No acceptance this year either. Got email last night. At least DS went last year. Good luck to everybody.

Just got in off the wait-list. I have to say, did not see that coming.

Just a quick question about STEM;

Is STEM, like NASS, a recruiting tool that factors in under-represented geographical areas?

The only reason I ask is because my sister, currently a freshman and a rising sophomore, did not get in this year with a 2040 freshman SAT, a perfect GPA, ranked top in her class, 3 varsity sport letterman, and many positions of note held, not to mention a legacy... WHO are they letting into these programs if she can't even get in?? Or is it mainly based off of geography and used as a recruiting tool?

It's somewhat of a recruiting tool. I know someone who was accepted this year. White male. Too young for PSATs. Very strong student. From a far-flung state -- which obviously helped. Won't give more details for privacy reasons.

Like NASS, it's not all about merit but merit is not ignored.

Actually, it was a 2140 SAT, including a perfect verbal score. We did let her know it would be hard to get in based on our close proximity to Annapolis, but it was disappointing none-the-less. I feel myself thinking "Go Army" a lot more these days.

Bear-
Congrats on being pulled from wait list. My son is still on it.
Wondering where you live. Did the acceptance come in email?
Did the acceptance give a date you needed to accept?
Fingers crossed here.

anneluck,

I'm from the midwest, they sent an acceptance email from the same address as I got the original denial email (check your spam, the denial got through the spam filter, but the acceptance didn't). More importantly, they'll call both your son and you and ask you if you want to attend. I'm not sure, but you may have to give your answer on the spot, at least I did. The email explains how to sign up and pay and all that stuff.

Thanks for the info!!
Will check spam and hope for the phone call. Any clue how many are being pulled off the waitlist?
