Still in the game

Each and every young man or woman who has spent all this time applying and working so hard deserves the utmost praise for their dedication in pursuing a selfless dream of serving their country. Any one of us that does end up receiving a TWE should be proud of the hard work and determination spent in pursuing the dream. Your lives are always a plan A, no matter what the size of the envelopes are in your mailbox.

Ughhhhhhh

This is nerve wracking. Last October during CVW they told all the parents in a Q&A that the academy stepped into the new millenium. The OIC said that most would be notified by Mid Feb as letting people wait until Mid April caused them to lose too many qualified applicants. Guess they changed their minds.:frown:

I'm sure it's more a case of "the best laid plans of mice and men..." as opposed to they changed their minds. Something always interposes.

This whole process is more than applying to a college - it is applying for the honor of serving your country. Yes DS wants to attend the Academy more than anything but he also wants a Naval Career beyond the required 5. Thin or thick, I am so extraordinarily proud of him for choosing this road. We are not a military family - it is completely his dream that I know he will see through. Good luck to all still waiting with us.

I'm sure there's no magic answer for this, but: If we're still waiting on the BFE (or TWE) at this point, is it safe to say that we have a good or better chance of getting the BFE?

Well said.

Or you can always hope for an appointment to prep school!

Got a twe today, and it was notice of approved medical waiver. Scared the poop out of us.
The process for a medical waiver doesn't get initiated unless admissions finds you competitive... right?

Been lurking here for months. Son completed application a long time ago but was DSQ for color deficiency. He was deflated and thought it was over so pretty much has written it off. He has not pursued a nom and I decided not to push him. Since he hasn't gotten a TWE, I assume he's still in the game and may be granted a waiver. Since he's not a recruited athlete, my guess is that he would be low on the list. Anyway, I suppose no news is good news at this stage.

I'm sorry, but you said he has no nom? No nom=no appointment. Plus I've also read that they told people when they were requesting a waiver in many cases. I'm sorry, but I would look into plan B based solely on the fact that there is no nomination.

As its coming down to about a month and a week left until we no doubt will find out the verdict, my mom and I light a candle and pray every night that whatever decision is made on my application, I will handle it with grace! Its out of our hands, God already knows where I and all of you will be in a year! But I hope I find out soon so I don't pull out all my hair or die of sleep deprivation until then. :worship:
usa95, you have it right!!

and mdn18, I love that about God's Plan A - so true!

DS still waiting here, too...

6 new mail days coming up. Did a lot of praying at Mass today. I'm feeling hopeful that this is the week we all get the news we want.
