Still in the game

So sorry to hear about all the TWEs again today. We survived the mail today, no TWE. BFE from Plan D.

Thank you all for your shoulders to lean on. No one really understands the stress unless you have lived it.

NOOOOOOOO! Awwwww Prepschoolmom, this is just too much! I am so sorry. Thank you so much for starting this thread, it truly has been a beacon that we all turn to for support & encouragement. Thank you and wishing the best for you and your family. Next year Annapolis!

Yes Sledge it is true. On to plan B. So very very proud of DS. He is already planning how to improve his application so he gets the BFE next year.

If your DS inherited and/or learned any of your positive mental attitude I'm confident he will do well on whatever road he chooses from this point.

You know that your thread helped a lot of people, right?

So sorry to hear about the TWEs. I hope we can meet back here next year; maybe by then I'll have created a unique handle like the rest of you. #heartbroken

I have been watching this site all day, I am so sorry that so many are feeling the sting of a TWE! We definitely need some good news for this group!

I love that those who have been voted off the island are still here, offering support and encouragement - no wonder these kids are so terrific, clearly they had great mentors!

No mail yet here in SC...

Arrrgghhh! I've been rooting for each and everyone of you. For those who've received a twe, I am heartbroken for you. I'll still read, and continue to hope that the massacre will end soon, and whomever is left on the island we can celebrate their DS/DD's success.

On a selfish note...for those who'll be reapplying I look forward going through this process with you.

egri, Hope4myds, Hopeful USNA dad, Hopefulmidshipman, mrs. m, Alexander hess,prepswimmom....and whoever else I missed!

OMG - I am sooooooooo sorry for all TWE's today. I really thought we would see some BFE's!

I am sad for all, but especially for prepswimmom....you have helped so many people on this thread! I am sure your son will be fine...he has YOU as a mom!

Looks like there will be alot of reapplicants for next year. Remember, your DS/DD can find out where their application fell short by contacting admissions after 4/15. We are definitely going to do so, to see where to make the improvements/adjustments. My son thinks he may be lacking in government classes, etc...so he is going to try to get a summer internship with our MOC. Who knows? Maybe it's something we didn't even consider!

Thank you all for your support and kind words. I am so very proud of DS and he is already planning on opening that application on April 1. He is determined to attend USNA so we will still be around. They can't get rid of DS that easily! A million thank you's and big hug to all.

I was a bit surprised that DD is still in the game in So CA. DD's little sister who is on spring break has become our newest mail box stalker and has reported no TWE's from USNA. The game is a little less exciting now that Prepswimmom , mrs. m, wompwomp and all the others who've received the TWE are moving on with plan B's. I hope I see some of you in next year's "game" if we too end up with the TWE. You all have been a great support system. Best wishes for those still in the game and for those who are executing plan B's.

dguts18 you brought tears to my eyes... I never thought I would become so attached to my Forum friends. You are the best group of people I have ever been acquainted with. For those reapplying - are we "Still in the Game" or "Starting a New Game"? Still hoping to meet some of you in Annapolis - 2015 or BUST...

So sorry about the TWEs, especially you, prepswimmom. You have inspired a community here, and I wish your DS all the best in his reapplication.

My DD, a high school freshman, and my DS, waiting to hear from USNA, attend different high schools (long story). I was at DD's school today and mentioned to an administrator that DS was waiting to hear from USNA. She said that they are starting to issue appointments and that a student at that high school received one recently. That will make two at that school. I don't know of any at DS's school. Last year his school sent one to USMA and 3 to USAFA, but n one got into USNA last year. The news at my DD's school made me a little more anxious, of course. We're in very competitive Northern VA.

My mail checker (I couldn't do it today) handed me a BFE when I got home, and I about dropped to my knees, but it was from plan E (guess we overplanned). DS also received a TWE from Plan C Honors College. Nothing from USNA. Good news, bad news, or just no news?

Wishing I was bringing a USNA BFE to DS's baseball game tonight. Instead, I'll be bringing a blanket, mittens, and hot chocolate! But it will be fun -- at this point the kids on both teams know each other (many have played summer travel ball together), and there's a certain healthy competitive comaradarie amongst them. Will take the advice received on this thread and relish this last season of high school baseball!

Take care, everyone!

Prepswimm...I think I will vote for "Starting a new game"...if not we can always see how many posts we can get this thread up to! I would love to stay in contact with those here, just to see how all works out in the fall!

PS. When I read about your TWE "I" got teary-eyed.

But, like my handle reads....

Don't Give Up The Ship! (dguts!)

kayaker where do you live? Sounds like my neck of the woods - freezing here in New England!!!

Prepswimmom, I am forever grateful that you started this thread. It has been my lifeline to my sanity during this process. I am panic stricken seeing all of my new friends with such devastating news. I will not be home for 2 more hours, DD at baseball for 2 more hours, DH home about the same time. My stomach is turning just thinking about the possible fate awaiting our DS in the mailbox. Trying to stay positive, but feeling more like a sitting duck.

Since I received my TWE I have been lurking this forum still rooting you all on. It is very sad to see so many TWEs go out to many stellar candidates. Maybe we'll all meet on I-day next year!

Prepswimmom, it feels like New England, but we are in Virginia. I lived on Nantucket for two years (my dad was stationed at the Navy base there). I think the Winters were warmer there!

Not this year Kayaker - It was 14 when I walked my dogs this morning. Miserable winter and spring is no better. Gloom and Doom all around.

So sorry to hear of all the TWEs. No mail here in Indiana. MoC hasn't heard from academy either, for any candidates. I feel as if time is slowly coming to a halt. Each night I dream the same dream: either getting the phone call, getting the letter, or(my favorite) waking up in a bunk in Bancroft. Actually waking up is the most disappointing part of my day. I wish I could stay in that world. But one way or another I'm determined to make my dream come true, the one I've had for as long as I can remember, one way or another, this year or next.

Well not a good mail day here. The TWE came. DS is disappointed but I think I am even more sad. He has a NROTC Scholarship and $44,000 pe residential scholarship to Embry Riddle so it still all good. It's a relief just to know.... Everyone still waiting hang in and good luck to all you DS&DD... Go Navy!
