Can Photos be posted? I need to do that!
Does anyone ever think that maybe the letter from the Academy is lost at some post office somewhere?
Just wanted to join the group...DD away for spring break. So she has freedom from the ritual of mailbox stalking! Any more Tennesseans on here?
YES!! So funny you say that, because we have been laughing about that for months...we thought maybe, when the snow finally melted, after being there alllll winter, we would find a BFE had been dropped in there somewhere. Or we speculate on the possibility of mail theft in our area. Or if our mail lady is sober...how would you know? I've even had a nighmare after DS moved away to plan B in August, we got a letter from USNA stating since you never achnowledged our offer, we're gonna close your file...yikes!
This a crazy process!

I also have a plebe. This is NOT exactly what happened in Iday last yr, at all. Iday is rough. It is meant to be. From what I have been told, the worst moments of plebe summer is the morning you wake up AFTER Iday and are in bed and for a split second think of the lines from that Talking Heads song:
"And you may ask yourself
Well...How did I get here?
And you may say to yourself yourself
My God!...What have I done?! "
Many kids were shell-shocked, even though they knew exactly what they were getting into and thought they were completely prepared. Your PTR packet spells it all out. The coaches spell it all out. I simply dont buy any nonsense about kids not knowing so that's why they left. Just NO. That is NOT the case. There were quite a few kids crying. there were kids who didnt want to take the oath of office at the end of the day. It is a long, hot, scary, frightening, loud, exhausting, overwhelming, intense, emotional day. Until you are an 18 year old going through Iday, dont judge. In fact regardless, just don't judge.
I have known this friend since junior high school in the 70's - she is not prone to exaggeration. I just reiterated a story she told me last night. I am not judging nor do I think she would make it up. It must have been something she witnessed or she would not have said it. Don't be so defensive.

This is politics at it's best. The SA's like any other publicly funded school has quotas it must maintain. Anyone refusing to believe this is not facing reality. Sugarcoating reality is always the politically correct way to do things, but we all know that operationally these quotas must be filled. Certain people are given certain selections because they very nicely round out the needed personnel for a given class. Some would say that's a sour grapes attitude. Quite the contrary, that's a realist attitude.
All I can say, is that we were there, on the lawn, right next to the parents and that is not what happened. Period. I understand why your friend may have wanted to tell you that version of the story, and I understand why you would want to feel that this is true.
