Still in the game

Thanks prepswimmom. But, not staying on the coaster all summer.
750 math/2200 SAT, top 6 in his class, 12 varsity letters, all state, AP Scholar,
hundreds of hours of community service, NHS(leadership), 3 sport captain, leadership in school clubs, invited to Boston to meet the Dean of Admissions with only 3 other kids...honestly..who knows! He honestly could not have done anything more..I don't know what the formula is

Congratulations on Notre Dame for your DS, granitemom. And obviously for the WL, too, because clearly that is an accomplishment; but as you say, I don't know what the formula is!

granitemom, your DS has the correct variables and constants in his formula, and is indeed an outstanding young man. Best wishes on what will be most definitely a very bright future. You have balanced the equation-a great son who had the help of a great mom along the way! Congratulations!

Yes, congratulations granite mom!!! Very impressive resume and ND is a fantastic plan B!! Difficult to grasp how your son gets WL at USNA.. There have been many shockers on this forum and it appears your DS has fallen victim to the numbers game.. He has a very bright future and a wonderful mom!! Great job!!

Thank you everyone...nice to hear everyone's kind words. DS is ok with how things have played out, he is glad he at least knows now. We are all just processing it, including his brother headed to NASS in June, that is going to be a little tough to handle.

Good luck to all still waiting to hear!!

Why do these last few days seem so torturous? They intensify and this week has been extreme to say the least. It feels like we are in the coliseum waiting for the thumbs up or down.

Nothing in the mail today.
Should I wait until next week to call USNA and find out what is going on?

It's been a fun ride. TWE here. College then reapply for me. God bless all. See ya next year...

Ah, Trey0189, I'm sorry. You have always been such a positive voice on here. You will go far with such a great outlook. Best of luck to you.

Pulled this from another thread.

DS in an RA and had his LOA, but did not receive the MOC nomination. He was 3Q'd and received a superintendent nom. Because of "good, but not great" SAT scores, all throughout the process, we figured he would probably be going the NAPS route - and everyone was onboard with that scenario.

About 4 weeks ago, DS received his packet from admissions. And to our surprise, he was offered a direct admit. His GPA, class rank, AP classes must have been enough to make the cut. USNA Class of 2018 was the new destination.

About a day ago, all that has changed...and I've not seen anything like this situation posted before. Evidently, all of the superintendents nominations are receiving additional scrutiny and now 30-40 RA's who were offered direct admit, are being told that they need to go through NAPS. Seems like there is no option here, and DS doesn't want to 'rock the boat' and lose his spot...so NAPS it is.

DS and our whole family is still very honored by the selection....but talk about a heck of an emotional roller-coaster ride. My question is this - is this normal? Has anyone heard of such a thing before?

Thank you for your responses!

Folks, it does not look good for the island I think. No mail here today.
