Still in the game

Congrats WithYou 2018!

Currey, your saga is quite puzzling... hoping for good news for your DS.

Don't I know it Kayaker!

They have 46 Days till I-Day. Just figure we have a new countdown to a final date.:confused::confused:

Congrats WithYou2018! It is an awesome news. All the best to everyone. Мrs.m I am so happy for your DS. I hope you did not mind when I quoted you on page 207 a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks, Dell. I love that you quoted me! Makes me feel famous!!

Hello all, I'd just like to introduce myself as the fifth(if I've counted correctly) person on this forum to have a principal nominee to USNA and a wait list status to NAPS. :(

Also could anyone be kind enough to verse me on the lingo you are all using? i.e. "DS, DD, TWE, BFE" I apologize if it is obvious or a dumb question.

Well folks, its been a good ride hasn't it?

My DS was informed today that he will not be offered a spot at USNA this year. They stated, "There was not a single factor that led to the turn down decision. Competition is extremely fierce and we unfortunately just do not have enough spots for all the excellent qualified candidates like you."

Since he just told me that he filled out the preliminary application and submitted it 4 weeks ago just in case, I guess I will see you all on the flip side as we pick our seats on the roller coaster for the next go around.

Thank you all for the support as we waited for a determination.

So very sorry. I had really started to believe he was getting in this year. Good luck for 2019.

Oh Currey, I know that you were expecting this outcome after all this time but I also know that it doesn't make it any easier. {{hugs}} I hope your son can get excited about his plan a2 and that next year he ends up exactly where he wants to be.

All the best!

Oh no, Currey!! ....i am so sorry they put you through this extra anxiety. I cant understand why they would dangle it in front of you all this time. Doesn't seem right. Hope your boy is taking it in stride....and is looking forward to wherever he is going in the fall. Not sure what my DS is going to do about next year...he opened the preliminary app so we will see. I am not sure i have the stomach for it all again, sigh.

Currey I cannot tell you how sorry I am that your DS got the TWE. Of everyone that received one, my own son included, I am the most sorry for you. They kept you waiting extra long which I hoped all along meant a BFE. I know the Academy is competitive - but I'm going out on a limb and saying the way admissions treated you is horrible. Big hugs and I hope he likes his plan A1.

Mrs. M, I feel ya. Getting right back on the horse is not something I am feeling right now, but I sort of have to follow the kids lead on this. Besides...I sort of was the one that he learned to never give up from, so mama has to buck up.

Prepswimmom, I get that it was a long and anxiety riddled process. I don't feel that we were slighted by Admissions at all. They tried and kept trying to find a way to get him in. I am sure that when they got the number of declines back from the first round that they determined that they were simply not going to have a spot for him. I am sure it is just as gut wrenching for the officers sending out the information as well as making the determinations. The difficult thing is to have nothing wrong or nothing to "fix" going into this a second time.

DS chose University of San Diego as his A2 and will be studying Mechanical Engineering. Family in San Diego and Yucca Valley for him to visit which keeps a mom happy. He now can plan the summer with a targeted goal and that has made him quite relieved.

He was accepted into both usd, UCSD, UWashington and Oregon State.

Usd 3 years ago received an endowment of 20 million for increasing its engineering program. He chose the small private school with on site nrotc and crew over the larger schools.

currey, I was so sorry to read your post today. Have been hoping for good news for your DS. As another poster shared a while back, our plan B is God's plan A. I am a mother of a reapplicant that did make it in on the 2nd try. In our Annapolis parent club I have met other parents whose kids had to reapply a 3rd time. In the end, it will not matter to our DDs and DSs when they become part of the class of.... Nobody will judge them for taking an extra year to get it. They will be older, more mature and determined to succeed as midshipmen. I am proud of your DS for getting back on the horse. He is the type that will be successful!
