My son was awarded a 4 yr Army ROTC scholarship back in June of this year. Unfortunately so far the ROTC scholarship has not paid out yet and he is getting eviction notices from his dorm. In addition if he is not paid up by 2nd week of December he can't register for Spring.
I'm wondering if he gets a student loan will the ROTC scholarship pay it off?

Be sure to have him contact the bursar's office and make sure his scholarships are on file, then contact his chain of command to make sure all is okay. ROTC is slow to pay out and the schools know it. For peace of mind, communication is key.

Something is not right, if he has all his paperwork completed and he signed the contract hi tuition should have been paid by now, You mentioned in a previous thread that he had received his stipend for only one month, that is not normal either. Once he started receiving his stipend it should be an automatic payment by direct deposit every month. having the stipend start and then stop is not something that should happen.

Has your son talked to the Battalion HR person in charge of tracking the scholarships, did they give him any answer as to why this is happening? If he has not talked to them, he needs to soon. If he doesn't get anywhere then he needs to talk to his Cadre and let them know that he will not be registered next semester if the Army does not pay the tuition per his contract.

Again, this is not right and he needs to find out soon what the hold up or issue is with both his tuition and stipend.

Did your son receive his Book Money for this semester?

Sp did he select to have his room and board paid for, or his tuition? ROTC will not pay both. If it's paying his tuition then room and board are your responsibility, unless the college has some special deal. Jcleppe's advice is spot on, speak to the HR person.

I believe I asked in your other thread if your son was using his scholarship for Room and Board, if he is then the money will be given directly to your son, he is responsible to make the payments for Room and Board himself. This means if needed he could take a loan and then pay the loan back as soon as he receives the payment from the Army. If he has the scholarship paying for tuition then the Army will pay the university directly.

Is your son contracted? If so, then he would have to initiate payment through submitting a Cadet Payment Request through GoArmyEd. Has he done that? If he is contracted, the ROTC dept should be able to notify the bursar and let them know he has a scholarship incoming, and remove any holds. However, the scholarship only pays for Room and Board or Tuition and Fees. He would still have to pay the balance through other means.
