Accepted//ACT 34//Wisconsin//GPA 4.0 unweighted// 3 out of 370// class president, badger boys state, varsity soccer, track, cross country, lots of volunteer work and a job.

Just a note for you SS hopefuls- SS is more of a recruiting tool than anything else, so stats like ACT/SAT, GPA, etc may not be super relevant. You can have an awesome package, but if USAFA is pretty sure you'll be interested no matter what and you are in a majority demographic, you may not get in. This has NO bearing on your eventual USAFA application.
This is very true. I did not submit any ACT/SAT scores (haven’t taken them yet) on my application for SS and got accepted. Although I have a good GPA, am a Sea Cadet, play varsity sport, volunteer work and am a female and a minority.

Accepted//SAT 1440/ACT 35//Virginia//3.99 unweighted GPA (4.5 weighted with a bunch of APs with all As)//Top 5% out of 388//Varsity swimmer and state champion for two years in one event and state runner up in another plus a bunch of volunteer coaching experience

*note I am being recruited by their swim team so my swimming accomplishments probably had a verified value if they were checking
Keep your head on straight, and you’ll be on your way! Congratulations!

We have not heard anything yet. Will we get an email saying you did not get in?

Wow! That is crazy. Did he apply to any other SAs?

NO- He did get accepted to Boys State and CAP Cadet Officer School at the Maxwell Air Force Base. Hopefully, these activities will look good on his application.

I’m sure you and your son are disappointed, but please don’t let it get either of you down. It truly means next to nothing towards a USAFA appointment. It sounds like your son has an amazing, (and more rewarding) summer coming his way.

My DS was selected last year, but if he couldn’t get the session which didn’t conflict with Boys State, he wasn’t going to SS. In the end it worked out for him. Here is how he ranked his summer:
1a. Boys State- fun and learned a lot!
1b. CAP Encampment- not as fun, but what an amazing experience for any young person thinking about going to a Service Academy!

3. (a distant 3 at that). USAFA SS- Fun! He enjoyed meeting the other likeminded kids, and being on campus. But more like just summer camp than the other two. Definitely didn’t add anything to his application, other than a couple references about it in an essay.

If you haven’t been to USAFA, visit! They have some pretty good tours.

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. We just went for the visit in Feb. He loved it. Although, I am having him also tour the USNA to see the differences.

So what do you all think about the likelihood of this going forward, postponed or cancelled? Son is in the first session.

At this point I told my DD that even if they're cancelled at least get your stuff in so you're on file as applied and interested, same with Girls State.
