Summer Seminar Results 2020

@DeepWaters I did end up going.
The seminar was an awesome experience. If you get in and it fits in your summer schedule, I recommend going. Even though attending has no weight on your actual application, being at seminar will give you experiences to draw on in your interviews/personal statements.
One thing I wished I knew before I went: The AFA's seminar is way less hardcore than the other academies. The seminar is going to consist of a lot of time attending briefings. Also, military day only really lasted until right before lunch.

I absolutely agree with DeepWaters. I attended Session B last year, and I would say two things:

1. Summer Seminar was an awesome experience! VERY informative, and really fun! I highly recommend it. However, it does not give the most accurate idea of what attending USAFA is like. I had the opportunity to do a candidate visit once the school year started, and my experience was very different. Visiting the school during the academic year will give you a much better understanding of what your life at the academy will be like. That being said, Summer Seminar was AMAZING, and is of course 1000 times better than not visiting at all!!

2. If you can, visit more than one service academy! I was married to the idea of attending USAFA, and would not even consider another service academy until October when I visited West Point and realized that I would love attending that school too! I am visiting the Naval Academy soon as well. If you are not set on a specific branch of the military, then keeping an open mind will help you make the best possible decision on which academy to prioritize.

Haven’t gotten my decision yet either (hopefully tomorrow?). Good luck to all my fellow juniors!

My DS is also anxiously waiting for SS results. Good luck everyone!! Fingers crossed.

They just sent out emails!!! Question, they want responses by March 15, but I’m also waiting to hear back from Navy. I can only chose one because my school doesn’t let out until right before the last session for both. Any advice on what to do?

If my daughter’s portal still says under consideration, what does that mean? That she didn’t get in?
