Congrats and welcome to the grandparent club. If I had known how much fun grandkids were I would have had them first.DS in national guard is in the middle of his second AT this summer (got transferred after his first to brigade and is now doing one with them). It ends in 2 weeks. He and his wife are expecting their first child (grandson for us) in 4 weeks.
Younger son is respiratory therapist still working everyday against Covid. He and his wife are expecting their first child May 1st.
Our first 2 grandkids.
Such a garden spot...sandy beaches, palm trees, coconut crabs...Son just got back from seven months in Diego Garcia. Will get to see him next month when we visit his Grandmother and he drives over.
I used to work with an E-6 that had a Friesian. She bought it as a foal in Belgium when she was stationed there then brought it back to the states when she PCS'd. You wouldn't think that something that large could move as gracefully as they do.For the horse-lovers amongst you.
My mom’s side migrated from Georgia to Alabama and dad’s side from Georgia to Florida. I was stationed there three years and believe it is one of the most unusual, unique, weird, and awesome places I’ve ever been. And I’ve been around the world. The people, the weather, the skeeters, the four venomous snake species, the beaches. Oh and the pythons. It’s just a big sand bar playground.Yep. That’s us here in FLA
Pretty much a giant version of Willoughby SpitIt’s just a big sand bar playground.
Frankly, it’s o.k. in the winter, but when I retire, I plan to spend as much time as possible out of this hurricane-stricken swampMy mom’s side migrated from Georgia to Alabama and dad’s side from Georgia to Florida. Not so sure I agree with watches for those in the military (although they are probably multi-function)
As far as military items no longer useful - my USMC cover block!
We have a working rotary phone in our kitchen that we bought just for nostalgia reasons. My in-laws are the only ones who have the number. We call it “the hotline.” It is black but it should’ve been redI miss rotary phones. I liked the feel of the handset, and the feel and sound of dialing.
When I read this, I had an immediate flashback to the recurring skit of Ernestine (Lily Tomlin) the AT&T telephone operator and her outbound calls to various people and entities, on “Laugh-In,” for those who recall that 20th c. show. There is a whole bunch of these on YouTube. We have a working rotary phone in our kitchen that we bought just for nostalgia reasons. My in-laws are the only ones who have the number.
