Surprisingly, it's not all PT and Lab's like most people think. Being in ROTC allows you the opportunity to take part in many exciting things. For example, it just so happens that of the 3 places the Dalai Lama will visit this year in the U.S, my college campus is one of them. So today, a team (half of the battalion) of Army (and some Air Force) ROTC cadets were asked to augment the State Department and Local/County/State Law Enforcement officers on the security detail. Pretty neat getting to see what goes in to a foreign dignitary's trip and talking with the State Department's diplomat security teams.
