Those of Us Still Waiting

For all of those on the still waiting thread, did anyone or everyone do their medical with Dodmerd?
DS did physical in August for another SA, but USCGA requested it at the beginning of October before app was complete. He was deferred to RD and is still waiting.

Yes, USCGA requested it ... but it went to spam, we nearly missed our "window" completed everything within a week, though.

where is Marion? Georgia is definitely too far away.. we are in Jersey. He wasn't interested in anywhere that was a plane ride away
Anxious Mom - We are in northern New Jersey and I was also an anxious mom. Marion, Alabama is vastly different from northern NJ and yes, it is very far away. If your DS has aspirations of going into the military, he will likely at some point be far away from NJ and possibly the USA. My DD dreamed for many years of attending the CGA and she was quite upset when she was not offered an appointment during her senior year. My DD's time this past year at Marion Military Institute yielded her a greatly improved ACT score and improved academics, and we are very pleased with the increase in her self confidence. Not only that, my DD absolutely valued her time there and made lifelong friends. She also felt very comfortable due to the amount of comradery, not only from her peers but from the professors (who acted as advocates on behalf of the students) as well as the very-hands on staff. Importantly, it solidified her resolve that she is destined to be in the Coast Guard. Her hard work together with the support and leadership of her professors at Marion Military Institute in the Service Academy Program, and the director of the program, ultimately led to the appointment she received this past week to the CGA. Good luck with your DS's decision!

My sons was the same, it was never checked but he still got his appointment to CGAS. Try not to worry about the little stuff. You will learn the outcome soon. Wishing you all the best.
I went through this with my older son who is a 3rd class there now. I just don't remember some of the details, lol.

I have a feeling it won't be blanket NOs, but rather blanket Wait Lists on 1 April.

I believe RA appointments (to include CGAS) have until 1 May to decide on accepting, so another month of waiting for many of us.

Curious why you think this, as I think it would be a terrible idea and give false hope to way more applicants than would be warranted. Plus, they definitely did mostly blanket "NOs" on EA decision day.

I haven't seen any "NOs" from EA on this Forum -- only appointees and deferrals, nor do I know of any "NOs" from EA by word of month.

I believe there will be a large Wait List because they do not base it on Order of Merit. As a result, they require a larger Wait List pool to meet needs of incoming class so they can make a more subjective selection.

There were definitely "NOs" at EA, which I know for two reasons. First, some posted on the "denied" thread that was started after EA decisions came out. Second, the numbers that CGA themselves posted mean that more than half at EA were denied. I've forgotten the exact numbers, but generally they have something like 700-800 applications at EA. Objee posted that from the EA pool they made 189 direct appointments and 40 CGAS appointments. And the application handbook stated that they would defer 75-100 from the EA pool. So if you had 189+40+100 (upper end), you come up with 329 that were still in the game after EA, which means that well over half had to have been given hard "NOs".

There were DEFINITELY “no’s”.... there was a very heated thread.
There were a lot of no’s on the EA site. I was part of it all. My son was deferred, but some very upset parents on there when then their kids were denied. Very very mad. A lot of controversy. Maybe go back and look at the month of December about a week before the 12/20. My son still hadn’t received notice at that point, but others were denied. He found out he was deferred by email on bears den on the last day.
