USAFA Waiting Page C/O 2028

Does this mean there is still a chance of admission up until early April if you are from those populous states even for those without LOI? I am not sure if USAFA sends out LOI to every qualified candidate. Trying to see if we should move on already.
Don't give up until you get a non-select/rejection letter.

LOI/LOAs are not sent to every qualified candidate. I have had two sons go through the process, neither received LOIs or LOAs, both received appointments to USAFA in their respective years, one being this year for Class of 28. There is still a chance if you have not received an non-select letter. Our oldest found out in April of his year and our youngest found out in late Jan this year. Everyone's story and journey through this process while similiar still will have stark differences.

To everyone on this waiting board....the wait is tough! There is no way around that. But you see it time and time again if you have read enough on the forum....it isn't over till its over and even then things sometimes although rarely change. Remain hopeful and work on your Plan B.

Good Luck to everyone still waiting!

tldr: if your appointment is not charged to your nominator, but instead to some other source, will your MOC be informed of that appointment?

My son found his appointment yesterday on the portal. I'm a little surprised because he didn't get a call from our MOC, who has a reputation for being heavily interested in SA appointments. In fact, his office hosts a great information session for kids in and out of our district. At last year's, the MOC himself said that calling appointees is his favorite part of being in congress.

Since my son didn't get a call, is that evidence that his appointment was not charged to one of our MOC's slots? If that were the case, would our MOC even be informed of my son's appointment?

Reason I'm asking is that it's a competitive district and a couple people here are wondering if there's space left from this district. If my son was not charged to our MOC, it might be encouraging to those people that either the slot(s) are still open or the kids from this district come out of the national pool.

My son did not receive a LOI, and he received an appointment. There are many on the appointment list without LOI or LOA. I think many have said don’t give up until you get a letter of nonselection. Best wishes!

Why do you think your district is competitive? Trying to figure out if mine is. Most got nominations I suspect but I don’t know if I’ve seen any appointments come through

To be clear, I think it's really in the nomination process that my district is competitive. My guess is that apart from the few MOCs that don't send a full slate of nominees, I don't really think that it's easier or harder to be offered an appointment from different districts.

Having said that, in the course of this process we talked to as many people as we could, and they all said this district has a ton of highly competitive candidates (before redistricting we were in CA37, which is supposed to be relatively easy to get nominated from). Some of those candidates are worried that if my son got in, they are less likely to. I don't think that's the case, so if someone can say, yeah he was probably charged to a national pool slot and not the MOC's, it might be encouraging to them. If that's not too confusing.

It’s all very confusing to me 😩

Received a text from the ALO last night saying that the bulk of the decisions will come out in early and mid-April

Hurry and wait (more).....

didn’t they originally say march 20th? It seems like all of the “appointments” that came out was mostly portal updates for people who heard earlier during that week and the week prior that they had been accepted. I hadn’t seen anyone on the 20th talking about receiving a call, only those who said their portal updated with appointment or prep offers. How much of the class do they have left to appoint?

This how appointments come out. MOCs are notified the week prior so that they can contact appointees if they choose. Whether you call is up to the MOC. Then, all of those appointments hit the portal on the predetermined day.

Are there many “waves” of when appointments hit the portal? Is march 20th the biggest?

No idea. This is Col. Pipes first year so we don't really have a pattern to work off of. She told us at a dinner that 50% of the total appointments would come out in March and April.

My ds is hoping there are more to come. We live in a very competitive area so even though he is high stats and has an LOI, we are very nervous that he hasn't heard yet. He is more serious about finalizing plan B now.

Rooting for him and I hope he gets his appointment soon!!

Thank you! He'd be happy with an appointment, Falcon scholarship, or prep school. Anything that puts him on the path to USAFA.
I understand. My DS feels the same way about WP. Every time I check the USAFA appointment list I hope to see your son's appt.
