USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Thank you. I'm out of the country, so it'd be easier to find out through the portal. Also, does anyone know if FFRs know our admissions status before the BFEs come out?

The FFR portal to West Point admissions has been shut down to them. I don't know when they will have access again. Maybe one of the FFRs on this forum can give you some insight.

My DS has a MOC nomination but not a principal, does he go straight in the NWL? Also if he is ranked #2 and the principal turns it down, do they pull him from the NWL and put him in that slot?

If he's 3Q, he'll go on the NWL. If he won the MOC nomination, he'll come off that list. If there is a 3Q PNOM, they'll be offered first. If he's #2, and the #1 declines or doesn't become 3Q, then he'll be offered in that spot. If not, he's in the running for one of the national spots.
 
P-Nom

Sometimes the SA will find the P-Nom did not satisfy the requirements. The SA can jump over number two and select number three. This is why some MOC do not rank their slate. The SA will pick who they want.

A little more detail-
If the slate is a P-nom with unranked alternates, which tug is describing above, then the alternates will be ranked by WCS by WP.
If P-nom is not 3Qd, then WP will go down the slate -as ranked by WCS - to the next qualified candidate and offer the appointment.

IF a P-nom slate is ranked, and the P-nom is not 3Qd, then WP will offer to #2 (if 3Qd) and so on down the list.
#2 may possibly have a lower WCS than #8 and #8 could possibly have a higher WCS than the P-nom, but WP has to offer appointment (to 3Qd candidates) in the order that the MOC lists on a MOC ranked slate.

If MOC turns in 10 names unranked (called a Competitive slate), then WP will rank the slate top to bottom according to WCS and award to the highest WCS that is 3Qd.

Some vacancies at this point can't be determined because of a candidate(s) on the slate waiting on waiver approval.

My congressman just called me. At the moment, I am studying abroad, so my host mother rushed in telling me (in her language) that there was someone on the telephone speaking English, Answer, Answer!! I am now having trouble explaining to her who she talked to one the phone (US Congressman) but what a surprise for me, as I was expecting to wait for a portal update. After reading this forum for several years, it feels very weird to be finally adding my name to "the list." :)

Got the Call!

I got the call from our MOC's office this morning! Congressman Sessions will be tracking my DS down this afternoon to give him the good news! I assume the BFE will arrive today or tomorrow'ish here in Texas. The 2nd time around is as exciting as the 1st time. Our road has been a long and winding one to say the least... it has been a pleasure sharing it with this group!

BFE Arrived!

:biggrin: Mailman handed my wife the BFE off just a while ago at the house. So wish I could be there to see DS reaction when he gets home from school. I doubt much homework will be done tonight, but I think I can understand that!

So hoping for all of you still waiting and wanting this opportunity. Keep hanging in there - there will still be BFE's through April. Until you see the TWE, you aren't out yet. Will update the acceptance thread after I talk to him later.

Thank you Tug_Boat....I am saying prayers for your son and all those still waiting! I know it's hard but it's not over yet! I told my DS all weekend, Positive thoughts only! :wink:
 
My DS was fortunate to be home today because they had extra snow days they didn't use. Funny how things work out!
 
Tug_Boat, I just want you to know that your posts recently have been really comforting to me. I've been browsing this forum almost obsessively (okay, really obsessively) and decided to create an account to thank you. I'm a senior from Texas applying to WP 3Q with a senatorial nomination and have been on tenterhooks the past week and a half. I just want Tuesday to get here and then leave whatever happens and reading your words of wisdom have helped me some.
