USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

I am a Field Force Rep - my job is to help and guide our great candidates through this difficult process. I have also been through this process as a Cadet and as a parent. My son is in the Class of 2015 and doing very well.

I fully understand the great emotions as parents and great young men/women go through the admissions process.

It is very gratifying to see our candidates in this Congressional District accepted and heartbreaking to see others not selected. We have some great candidates with three offers this year - all from the same HS.

Remember that about 200 more people will get offers - it is not over yet.

Also remember that many of the successful candidates this year were not selected last year.

Do not give-up on your dream.

Call from Congressman today. We have watched this list take shape with a mix of envy and hope. We wish many more exceptional young men and women may add their names soon. Congratulations to all.

Don't worry. "Goin the ROTC route" makes your DS no less qualified to be an Army officer. My son has his TWE from USNA and is awaiting the same from USMA, most likely.

Yes, they will be disappointed, but they will dust themselves off and excel anyway. I was a P-nom from my congressional district back in 1981, but in all honesty, I would not have been competitive for a 4-yr ROTC scholarship to a Senior Military College. I was lucky based upon where I lived. My son is very unlucky coming from one of the most competitive areas in the country and yet, he got a 4 yr AROTC scholarhsip to VA Tech. I am not worried about him in the least. He is a fine young man.

He may decide to reapply from ROTC; that's his decision.

Once commissioned and in the Army, the source of commissioning is pretty much irrelevant. Soldiers want a leader who sets the example, is competent, and is honest.

The SAs don't hold the monopoly on any of those........ and I speak from 20 years of Active Duty experience.

Also my FFR let me know that my BFE should be coming in Monday/Tuesday at the latest. I'm going to assume that people with LOA's might be getting theirs in a delayed wave as well. Not positive, though.
 
How many more appointments have gone out since the first 500 and what is the official estimated class size?
 
Got scared out of my mind today. My dad came into my room and tossed a TWE from West Point onto my bed. I, fearing the worst, slowly opened the letter only to find that I was still medically uncertain. I am still waiting for the waiver but I am glad that this TWE was not the TWE.

Is it 200 for sure? Wont there be more because some candidates will not accept their offers? I have 2noms, minority, and have an LOE. Still have not heard anything....

Do we know if some of the appointees are from the NWL??? If so, does it look like the Congressionals are out, the Presidentials are out, now the NWL's?
 
I dont think so, only some Presidential and some congressionals. In my state only four out of eight congressional have been decided as far as I know.
