USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

If y’all are REALLY bored, go back to prior year threads, towards the end of the cycle, and see how this all plays out towards the end of the process. Read discussion. You will see that there will still be appointments, and TWE’s. Y’all have made it far. Y’all are competitive. Now it’s a function of if there is room for y’all or not, and finalizing out medical, NAPS, and prep offers

What’s different this year, is all the inquiries via the chat. I’m surprised, actually, that there is so much parent interaction there. That’s all new this year. Soon everyone will know. But they aren’t ‘holding on to apps, looking to crush people’s hopes and dreams with a rejection, just for fun’(which is how some of these posts read). They are close to finishing out the class. And all this is necessary.

Hang tight, and know all are competitive to make it this Far.

For those of you still sweating this one out: here is the list of appointments listed on SAF for the C/O 2024. Clearly April 30 is not the end of the line for everyone, LOA or not.

Our BGO, while an amazing man, didn't contact us until early April, even though I reached out numerous times. My admissions team at USNA has not been overly helpful, often slow in responses if at all. Have very much felt alone in this process and like I was stumbling through, hoping I wasn't making mistakes. Its been very stressful.
In complete honesty I too felt very much alone in this entire process as well but finding Service Academy Forum and talking to other people who are also going through this process has really helped me these last couple of weeks. I wish I would have use this earlier in the year. I appreciate everyone on this thread so much.

My DD is a recruited athlete and has heard nothing. My DD was recruited in September of her junior year. She had other offers from D1 schools but Navy was her #1. It's very worrisome as I'm sure this late in the game, her other offers have filled their rosters. She and 2 other commits did not receive a nom and are still waiting also. My DD is also under waiver review and has been since November. Her admissions counselor said yesterday that she would hear by Friday at the latest. Keeping the FAITH. My DD is much better at this waiting game than I am!!

I’ve spoken to this on this forum before and it seems to be a touchy subject but I’ve not been impressed with the communication or lack thereof with USNA admissions as compared to other SA’s and NROTC. DS emailed several times throughout this process with questions or concerns about items that were not updating on the portal He rarely got a response to emails or follow up phone calls and when he did receive a response it was in reference to a totally different applicant on more than one occasion. BGO on the other hand was proactive, very professional and a great help.

It’s quite funny to see the difference I’m not going to lie. I feel like the majority of everyone else is right in the middle though. Most of us have put deposits in our safety school and are going to NROTC or Army ROTC if we get a TWE. However, we are very much hoping and praying for a BFE!
Agreed. I think that most of us fall into the tortured waiter category. No real idea of what to think but trying to hold out hope. DS did sign his appointment to USCGA today as it is due on 1 May and we do not want to be stuck with a TWE at 11:59 the day before USCGA starts pulling from there waitlist. If he is lucky enough to get into USNA we will cross that bridge. Easier not to be negative when USCGA is your plan A- and all DS wants to do is study Naval Architecture and eventually command a surface vessel

To reiterate what @justdoit19 mentioned above...last cycle there was no chat that I was aware of, or our DS was aware of. DS just sent his file in, updated as needed and maybe emailed admissions if he had a critical issue or question. There wasn't an option to ask the status of your application and expect a detailed answer.

There is nobody at USNA that is dragging this out to stress out applicants or parents. NOBODY. During a pandemic, while doing their jobs, while sometimes working remotely, while staff who are ACTIVE DUTY are transferred and deployed, while a replacement dives into the pool to replace their predecessor, while dealing with the nightmare of a new IT platform-- they are tending to each and every application with utmost care. Telling qualified, stellar applicants 'not this year' is not fun. Nobody enjoys that. Heck, many of them may have gone through the same process you are going through as applicants themselves many moons ago.

Unless you have an issue that cannot be resolved by waiting, any email or call or long chat session is only taking them away from the massive job of putting this jigsaw puzzle together. And that has to be done by the rules put in place by Congress.

Yes, they have missed their target date and the goalpost has moved. That's not going to stop if you get in. DS and all mids have had too many goalposts to name moved. It happens daily.

I appreciate the frustration, I do. And yes, it is late to not have an answer. But you are all competitive enough to not have received a TWE at this point. Let that sink in. You are still in the bottom of the 9th inning and haven't been tossed out of the game yet. If the news comes and it is a disappointment, knock your Plan B out and nail it. And, if you so choose, navigate the application process all over again. You are not alone. Less than approximately 50% of those with nominations will get the BFE. Many stellar, amazing kids will be turned down, there simply are not enough seats at the table for all of the quality kids that apply.

As hard as it is, applicants, step away from the portals. If they need to reach you, a phone will ring, an email will be sent. You put the best application in, it is now out of your hands (barring requests for documents or remedials etc). Go for a run, spend time with family and friends. No matter the outcome of this, your life is likely going to be changing dramatically in the coming months as you embark on whatever new journey your Plan A or A- or B take you.

I'm glad you BGO has done an amazing job My DS's BGO has been nowhere to be found. My DS emailed him he got his appointment. Nothing.
Every time my DS reached out to USNA he got a response, not always with any new information, but a response.
That is so sad to hear. My DS BGO has been wonderful, like a part of the family - we even thought about inviting him to our MOC Nomination Ceremony but wasn't sure if that was appropriate or allowed. Spent the evening at our house and my son and him text frequently. He was extremely helpful in communications with admissions, MOC, etc. Best part of the process...

Any one else planning on watching the Brigade Boxing championships tomorrow night as we await our fate?
I actually enjoyed watching the tournament fights on the way to the finals better. Being up close in one of the old gyms. Saw some real slug fests.

I went to many in Halsey. The Halsey smell - dust and decades of dried sweat - plus everyone packed in around the ring, roaring when blood went flying.

My youngster year, a firstie sailing buddy went all the way to the championship - Quarters, Semis and Finals with all of them won by Split Decision. His finals opponent was a firstie from my company who had already won three years in a row but not his fourth.

Maybe they’ll deep-six the chat next year, because it’s probably tiring to repeatedly answer the same questions about when decisions will be sent. Yes, they moved the goalpost from 4/15 to 5/1. But we’re living amid a pandemic and test scores are problematic and USNA extended the application deadline one month. They have no sinister or malicious intentions. Just trying to put together the best class they can, not trying to make anyone miserable.
