USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

To reiterate what @justdoit19 mentioned above...last cycle there was no chat that I was aware of, or our DS was aware of. DS just sent his file in, updated as needed and maybe emailed admissions if he had a critical issue or question. There wasn't an option to ask the status of your application and expect a detailed answer.

There is nobody at USNA that is dragging this out to stress out applicants or parents. NOBODY. During a pandemic, while doing their jobs, while sometimes working remotely, while staff who are ACTIVE DUTY are transferred and deployed, while a replacement dives into the pool to replace their predecessor, while dealing with the nightmare of a new IT platform-- they are tending to each and every application with utmost care. Telling qualified, stellar applicants 'not this year' is not fun. Nobody enjoys that. Heck, many of them may have gone through the same process you are going through as applicants themselves many moons ago.

Unless you have an issue that cannot be resolved by waiting, any email or call or long chat session is only taking them away from the massive job of putting this jigsaw puzzle together. And that has to be done by the rules put in place by Congress.

Yes, they have missed their target date and the goalpost has moved. That's not going to stop if you get in. DS and all mids have had too many goalposts to name moved. It happens daily.

I appreciate the frustration, I do. And yes, it is late to not have an answer. But you are all competitive enough to not have received a TWE at this point. Let that sink in. You are still in the bottom of the 9th inning and haven't been tossed out of the game yet. If the news comes and it is a disappointment, knock your Plan B out and nail it. And, if you so choose, navigate the application process all over again. You are not alone. Less than approximately 50% of those with nominations will get the BFE. Many stellar, amazing kids will be turned down, there simply are not enough seats at the table for all of the quality kids that apply.

As hard as it is, applicants, step away from the portals. If they need to reach you, a phone will ring, an email will be sent. You put the best application in, it is now out of your hands (barring requests for documents or remedials etc). Go for a run, spend time with family and friends. No matter the outcome of this, your life is likely going to be changing dramatically in the coming months as you embark on whatever new journey your Plan A or A- or B take you.
This made me feel a lot better about the situation and the work I put in. Thank you

I went to many in Halsey. The Halsey smell - dust and decades of dried sweat - plus everyone packed in around the ring, roaring when blood went flying.
Even closer in Mac Donough. The ring in the corner by the squash courts on the first floor and on the second floor. The old ropes & canvas. Like you were in Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn. I remember one of the Marine COs (Capt. Connolly aka Capt. Cub Scout from 22nd Co.) being the referee and totally losing control of a fight.

Very well said and I agree very much. I have been popping into the chats, often just reading not commenting and have decided not to email the admissions team directly cause I figured they will call/email me when they have an update:)

☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️Yes, 100%. This. Great job.

We made it this far! Whether we receive a USNA Appointment, NAPS, Foundation Scholarship, or TWE, embrace what is most important. ➡️ Your Character. It will lead you to where you want to go. It may not be today, tomorrow, or even this year, but you will get there. I look forward to standing next to each and every one of you in service to our country. God Bless you, Keep the FAITH! DON'T EVER GIVE UP THE SHIP! FLY NAVY! ⚓

Maybe they’ll deep-six the chat next year, because it’s probably tiring to repeatedly answer the same questions about when decisions will be sent. Yes, they moved the goalpost from 4/15 to 5/1. But we’re living amid a pandemic and test scores are problematic and USNA extended the application deadline one month. They have no sinister or malicious intentions. Just trying to put together the best class they can, not trying to make anyone miserable.

Wondering if that would lead to more or less conjecture from those of us the forum. I imagine they started it to try to cut down on the countless emails and phone calls they must get this time of year. One way I might tweak it if I could would be to make it for candidates only. Not sure that that would improve it but As a parent I believe we parental units ought to stay out of the process and let the candidates communicate with admissions etc. it is their appointment after all

Good thoughts for all the waiters out there! Be assured that the “right” thing will happen whether that’s easy or hard. I’ve posted before about DS 2023 experience as a college reapplicant. He went deep in the game for both USNA and NROTC scholarship and came up empty. We were touring plans B, C, and D in late April and the decision was made late on May 1. Fast forward nearly a year later after a year at a big school to his USNA acceptance and a retroactive 4 year NROTC scholarship, DS said his first rejection was the best thing that ever happened to him. Fast forward again to that first Christmas break, DS said that though it hurt, that rejection fueled him and helped him learn things about himself. He was better prepared to handle the challenges of Plebe Summer and Plebe year and excel. He said “USNA reallly knows what they are doing.”

So whatever your fate today or in the weeks ahead, be fueled and inspired to be the best you can be. The path to USNA and that of a commissioned officer in the Navy isn’t always linear and that’s ok.

You are all amazing!
