USNA 2026 Waiting and.… Waiting

And many appointees travel to I-Day on their own, with some families opting to spend travel dollars on Plebe Parents Weekend in August. New plebes without families there are immediately supported by alumni after the oath, offering the use of phones and refreshment.

My DD is still CPR as well. We plan on not hearing until after April 15 regardless of the stated deadline. If she gets the TWE she will reapply. If she gets an offer from USNA she will accept and inform her Plan B coach and college.

Truthfully I’m just annoyed and want to know about USNA because 1) plane tickets get more expensive daily,2) secure a place to stay close by 3) we have to find someone to watch our toddlers so we don’t bring them to I-day. This is the biggest hurdle that takes planning.

Our DD is calm and is not bothered at all. She is an old soul. It’s mom who is annoying her asking if she has heard anything. I tell myself that me pestering her let’s her know I’m interested in her future😂.
Plan for it! Get cancellable reservations…and if you dont get in, nothing is lost. Thats what we did each time!

And since tomorrow is Good Friday, maybe our children won't hear anything until next week? maybe?

Not a Federal or military holiday.

It’s also arguably one of the busiest times of the year, and I would not imagine routine leave or PTO requests would be granted. It’s all hands to the pumps there as they work to finalize the class.

Granted it was Covid that sparked the plan but between no IDay parent schedule and the cost, we dropped our soon then to be a plebe on the curb at the airport in AZ. No time for tears or long goodbyes. Airport security won’t tolerate those shenanigans.

In hindsight, it was okay. It is what we had to experience and our journey continued without fanfare.

Not all families can travel, afford travel or navigate the thousands of steps visiting the yard requires.

Whatever your journey, experience it as your family and your MIDN require. No keeping up with the Jones’s here.

No, not everyone will hear today. Some will still be CPR as their waivers are still processing (or some other rare circumstance). Those candidates are not waitlisted. They may just be pending approval of the waiver. If not given, then that may be one of the waitlisted slots given??

Supposedly my son is in that mix. He just sent the last bit of paperwork from the cardiologist. I actually got to read the report, and he's fully cleared of any heart issues (meaning, there never was one). So DoDMERB and the Academy still have to review it to get him back to fully medically qualified.

Of course, knowing our luck, he'll just end up getting a TWE today. 😜

I’m pulling for your son! Hopefully today will be a Good Friday for you and your DS.

Still. Pending.

And just because we haven't yet experienced EVERYTHING this process has to offer ..... a new wrinkle!!

WAITLISTED!!

And he still has a red X for medical as they are reviewing/processing the new infi he sent in.

Seriously. Between this year and last year, I think we've had every possible scenario a candidate could face!

Ugh-hoping for the best for both of you.

My DS portal still says CPR, not sure if that's good or not but no email or response yet. He is Medically Qualified.

still pending too, updated at 11pm for DS I am hopeful this is promising. His friend got declined yesterday.

Anyone on waitlist?
Sounds like 80 waiting and 20(max) may come off ?
Where to these numbers come from ?
Unless someone has heard directly from USNA Admissions, I wouldn't rely on them.
Personally, they seem high - on both sides but it really doesn't matter -- if you are on waitlist, you are still in the the running.

Good Friday tomorrow.
Good luck to everyone making this far.
The official waitlist letter from admissions said that there are between 70 and 120 candidates on the waitlist every year, and the number that come off depends on how many openings remain in the class after the first few weeks of May.
