Congrats! Would you mind sharing what the Appointment letter/packet looked like?

Not really a packet in the mail. It comes into your email stating a notification change. It starts off as, "I am pleased to offer you an appointment to the United States Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 2023. You should take pride in having successfully competed with outstanding young people from across the nation for admission into this historic institution."

I think it was six (6) calendar days from portal acceptance to BFE in mailbox.

Not to sound like a jerk here, but My DS came back with that from the mailbox last year and we said "oh, okay...that's nice, I guess".
You see, after the 10 month process of applying and waiting, it was sort of anticlimactic to all of us. I don't know if we expected a band to start playing, or what.

I think the high point in our household was when he got the fully-qualified offer on the portal.
There was much cheering and maybe some tears from Mrs. THParent.
By the time the BFE arrived, it was sort of old news. It's hard to describe.

I would like to hear this year from 2023 hopefuls, if that's a common occurrence.

I would have to agree DH& I were on vacation when the BFE arrived ,when we got home it was underneath a pile of junk mail, and DS just said oh yeah I got this while you were gone.

My DS, class of 2021 received a letter from our MOC in the mail first, then the portal notification a few days later and finally the BFE with the appointment letter. The BFE seems like it took forever, probably about a week to 10 days. Good Luck, its a long wait!

Our BFE was a LONG time after. I would agree with @THParent . Somewhat uneventful to actually receive it. The BIG deal was the portal change. HOWEVER....the photo op of DS looking at a computer screen, VS holding the open portfolio, dressed in USNA gear (yes he changed...) leads to the BFE seeming to be the big event haha! For sure the later picture is for social media!

“Anticlimactic” is the right word. Most exciting thing for my DD was the call from our MOC, informing her of the offer. Not every MOC does this, but if yours does, you’ll be glad you answered the call from the unknown number.
