USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Ugh, daughter called from school to vent. She received an email from one our Senators. Email subject line was: Senator X's Nomination Decision. She rushes out of class to read it privately. Body of email reads: We are notifying you to let you know Senator X's decision will occur by January 15.
Better than January 31st.

Question. Does the "Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans" Nomination count as a Presidential Nom and share the 100 chances or does it have its own set appointments? TIA :)

Hello-this is my first post. My son is applying for the Naval Academy and just about everything is in, with just the fitness test and one letter of recommendation from his math teacher, who has told him will be done shortly. What was interesting is someone from the Naval academy reached out to him to ask him when he would get these two things in, which he replied should be shortly. I would speculate that the academy reaching out is a good sign. Thoughts on that?

Just to follow-up on this, my son took the CFA on Monday and very quickly found out that his results "Qualified" him. He also received the recommendation from his math teacher. We are now just waiting on the DoDMERB results from about 5 weeks ago. We don't expect anything to derail it from that end, though you never know I suppose. Hopefully it does clear soon and then it will turn into a waiting game. Knowing he also received a principal nomination my son is super excited and absolutely can't wait to hear. Of course, it almost goes without saying that his old man can't wait to hear either. :)

Two different nom categories and associated appointments.
Correct and if one is eligible for Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans, then they cannot receive a Presidential Nomination. You don’t get to pick which one you’d like. This came up in one of my cycles a handful of years ago.

For those you out there who have already received a decision (LOA or acceptance), what day of the week did it show up in the portal? I remember reading somewhere that decisions go out mostly on Fridays. However, it's totally possible this pattern doesn't actually exist.

Good clear information for a new BGO to absorb. Thank you.

Add 1 for LOA to Friday

When you KNOW you shouldn't watch the pot to see if the water is boiling yet but you do anyway...

My son's portal says it was updated this morning but there is nothing new to see. I am crossing my fingers this means maybe something is coming soon. And praying it's something good!

Would they send outright denials at this time of year or do those come in April once they have finished making offers?

All of the questions that probably don't have actual answers and we ask just to torment ourselves. 🤣

Given the candidate deadline in most cases and MOC nom deadline to the SAs haven’t passed yet, i recall from past cycles “we regret” type communications don’t come out until into the New Year.

Watching the pot to see if the water is boiling is an understatement of the year for all that is going through the SA application process! @SnootyHen

My DS is a recruited USNA athlete has an LOA( Sept), Nomination(Nov) and now pending Medical (in the DoDMerb limbo since Oct)! He received an email from the coach congratulating him on his appointment in November, but we do not have an "official" document or portal update!! So we are all just waiting.

All plan B options are secured with full ride scholarship. But USNA is the number One choice. So we are all waiting.

Happy holidays to all on this wonderful forum that has been invaluable support and full of information! Our family would not have gotten so far in the processed if we did not read all the posts in the forum!
