USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Hi everyone..I am new to this forum..I see a lot of you using abbreviations...Is there a page where I can go to find out what they mean...Like all of you I am waiting to hear if my Grandson will get an appointment...I wish all of you the best of luck but please leave one spot open for my Grandson...

My experience with the communications and transparency (as much as was allowed) through both cycles my son did has been top notch. Most of the communication was my son's doing, and letting me know status, but the rare times I actually reached out, I was incredibly impressed with the Academy admissions team.

My son's journey is an epic tale that can be followed through the posts on the forum here. He experienced nearly every imaginable obstacle that could be thrown at a candidate in his two cycles. And I can almost 99.9% say that it was because of the people on this forum that he actually got a shot at his appointment during his second go-round.

We paid for DS’s plan B at ASU. He is happy with plan B but still holding out hope for Plan A at USNA. We’d be happy with NAPS as well.

Hold the phone!! There’s a Director I can call who will give me the status on my DS application??
 
IronmanDaremo's son had a very unique DQ due to medical. It would make sense that a parent would be involved to understand the situation.

In a normal application, I would not suggest a parent call to ask about their DS or DD's application status. It's a hurry up and wait situation. If all docs are submitted, there isn't anything a phone call to admissions can provide other than taking up their time.

If a call is necessary for some odd reason (beyond some crazy medical situation) I would always suggest the candidate be the one on the phone or chat. This has to be their car to drive.

Just my two cents.
 
Quick question, how do you get out of a RTOC commitment? I keep seeing, DD or DS has a ARTOC in their back pocket. as a back up plan.!!!

It's not that they are 'getting out' of a commitment to serve. The candidate would be accepting a scholarship, then if they receive an appointment, they may accept that and choose to serve in that capacity. Until they raise their hand and take an oath, they aren't really 100% committed. Both the ROTC scholarship staff and other academies understand this process and have 'attrition' built in just for these reasons.

The text: Done Junior to Senior first semester. meant junior to senior in High School is when you apply, not when you commit. I believe like the USNA you have 2 years to decide if you want to commit - make decision prior to Junior year in College.

It’s at the beginning of sophomore year for Navy ROTC.

The status is something you already know. And reaching out up the chain doesn't help/influence any part of the process, to include expediting decisions. The admissions team is extremely professional and are there to answer questions to assist in the process.

Almost everything can be answered in the live daily chats they hold pertaining to normal questions.

My inquiry was not that normal, so I stretched a bit in my interactions. And it didn't influence/change anything as he still got a TWE the first round. Nor was I trying to change anything, I was just looking for specific answers.

Like I said, my kid's journey was pretty epic, to use the current lingo. ;)
 
DS received a call from Senator Booker's office 10 minutes ago. He is in USNA 2027. Our wait has finally come to an end!!! Let the adventure begin. Thank you everyone for sharing your insights.
