USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Yes, it’s possible. It would be an LOA with conditions to be met such as DoDMERB qualification. If you have a principal nom and completed app, it will all get resolved eventually.
That's good to hear! Thank you very much for this info.

Another VA family here. DS got a letter from Warner saying he didn't get his nomination. He hasn't heard from Sen Kaine or Congressman Connolly. He thought that he would hear something, but it sounds like nominations already went out and those who didn't hear anything will not be getting nominations. We assumed things would be professional and you'd hear one way or the other. Oh well. A tough way to find out from your mother just reading a forum one night. So does one expect that his USNA application will just sit there with no response? Will he get a rejection letter from USNA at some point or is it just silence?

I wish they would notify everyone who applied for nominations. It really stinks. It's not over yet. Did he apply for a VP nom? Also, prep school doesn't require a nom. I hope it all works out.

I feel for you my VA friend! It's tough for sure and VA is so cut-throat. It's not over until he gets a TWE (thin white envelope). Your DS will be told one way or the other from the Academy. Keep the faith!

That’s weird… DD got rejection letters from both Connolly and Warner a couple of weeks ago

Same here - both Connolly and Warner sent letters prior to the new year with rejections, both saying since DD already had a nom they would not be giving her one.

Is that because your DD got a nomination elsewhere?
Maybe they only notify those who received other nominations. Or maybe my DS was forgotten altogether. I'll encourage him to call MOC office and find out.

What caused you to apply for the first time in college? Just curious.

Please please do that folks!! Solid backup plans!:) Don’t assume ya got in (my DS learned this hard last year)! Also something he learned last year that I wanna remind everyone here about; if you have any updates to your application (new transcript with semester grades, additional jobs or volunteer positions, more sports, or awards etc) remember to put them in by the 31st of January. If you don’t put them in by the 31st they won’t review them (happened to my DS last year so want to help everyone out this year)! CaptMJ, or one of you other amazing folks can correct me if I’m wrong, but this was his personal experience! Good luck to my DS (reapp from ODU NROTC - which is awesome btw -highly recommend) and all of you!!!:) Go Navy!!:)
DS just finished his Eagle & requested an update to his app to make sure to get it in by 1/31. They said his app was pending board review so it couldn't be done. Isn't that the exact time it should be done? Should we ask again or does Eagle not matter much?

I tried to update my application on December 4, 2023, and was also told my application could not be updated as it was with a board member. We are told to submit early, and that applications can be updated, which does not seem to be true.

My kiddo had a major increase in his SAT scores after the deadline, and when he tried to send it in, the senators office said the same thing.

Strange, my admission counselor allowed me to add rewards I received in March. My best guess is that you our DS/DD's would be getting seen by the board very soon, but take my words with a grain of salt

Hi all,
I was wondering why portals get updated at weird times? Like from what I could tell from the past 10+ weeks of waiting and some stuff I've found on the forums, the portals get updated every hour (11am, 12pm, 1pm, ect). However, today for instance, and a few times in the past couple of weeks, I got updates at weird times (11:05am, 1:13pm, 10:14am, ect) and am wondering why?
Thanks to anyone who replies in advance.

software issues probably, or the website host of the portal having issues. it’s hard to update over 30,000 files per hour, so expect “delayed” times!

So I am currently contracted with AFROTC, and although I love my Det and the people I have met here, I found out that I really want the 24/7 exposure only the academies can offer. There are most definitely amazing opportunities in AFROTC, but the opportunities USNA has to offer are just incomparable. I also found out I don't care to go out on weekends and want to put all my effort into school/my military career and be surrounded by people who feel the same.

At USC, I feel like I am reaching all my goals and gliding along a bit too easily, and I want the challenge USNA has to offer. I know that if I want to be the best officer I can become, I need to feel challenged like that. However, I am ultimately still not 100% sure what my final decision will be as I am really thriving at my Det and do enjoy the people and my time here.

Does anyone here know if a Conditional Appointment is still given to your MoC as a Fully Qualified Appointment? As in notifying them, phone call, shows up in portal 2-3 days later.

Well, best of luck in your decision. Seems like there are no real significant issues, just a choice between the type of experience you want before serving. So how does the acceptance of ROTC funds and then a possible appointment to USNA (and its 5-year service obligation) impact the total years required of you? Curious..
