I am working on appealing a waiver denial for West Point and waiting to hear back from USNA and USAFA. Does anyone know the medical accession standards for hearing for various combat jobs? Specifically:

Hearing Standards for STOs, CROs, etc.

Hearing Standards for SEAL Officers

Hearing Standards for Army Infantry/Ranger Officers

Different Branches' pilot hearing standards

I am pretty positive the hearing standards for SEAL officers just require you to meet standards in one ear, and I have zero problems in my right ear. If I can use the fact that I would still qualify for any job in my argument, it may help my case. I do find it strange the accession standards are much more strict to get into the academy when the job requirements are much less. I understand the logic that once you put money into the person, they are willing to work with you more, but isn't the whole point that they do not want to put others at risk? Am I not just as much of a risk if I enlist? I meet the standards for enlisting.

If anyone can find information on this, please show me. I am the only one to receive a nomination for USMA from my district, so I am hopeful for an appt. I have time to fight for a waiver. I am requesting any help or support people can offer.

Did USMA deny your waiver before offering you an appointment? Or were you just medically DQ'd through Dodmerb?

Medically DQ'd from DoDMERB, then informed by USMA, USNA, USAFA shortly after they were seeking a waiver for me. USMA notified me of a waiver denial a couple of days ago. Still under waiver review for USAFA and USNA. I am still hopeful for USMA, though. I don't give up easy.

Gotcha. DS is under waiver review for all 5 SAs. The wait is hard.
I'm sure there is a process for appealing denied waivers - might want to reach out the the waiver authority at USMA first to see what the steps are. It's possible that you might get a waiver for the other academies! Not sure of the hearing standards.

Can someone explain how to contact the waiver authority? Is it the RC? Where do I get the contact info for the waiver authority?

HR person? As in an FFR, DoDMERB task manager, admissions officer? I am confused.
There's a case manager for everyone on DoDMERB. If you have a specific question you could email your particular case manager (done by last name). They tend to be pretty responsive.

The Navy's pilot medical standards for hearing are all listed on the NAMI waiver guide. SNA applicant is the category to look at for that
