Good afternoon,
I received a medical disqualification on March 13th for AFROTC. The disqualification reads "Current or history of any abnormality of the retina, choroid, or vitreous." This is from a basketball injury last fall that my eye doctor said caused an "irregularity in the vitreous." My eyesight is back to normal, however, and I currently still have perfect vision.
My dilemma right now is that I have to make college decisions before May, and I've heard waivers can take up to a year. I am currently being offered a 4-year type 2. Whether or not I get this scholarship will be a huge factor in deciding whether I want to attend a much more expensive college that I like better, or a cheaper one.
To help my decisions, I was wondering if anyone else has had an experience with a similar kind of disqualification and if its likely to get a waiver. Again, I can see perfectly fine. If I begin sending DoDMERB documentation, will that in any way speed the process? Any other advice for my situation would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
