What to expect at the AFA.

Plug for airsoft and small arms clubs...

Available time really depends on your class schedule, time management, and squadron job (for uppers).

Hornet, I presume you just missed my comment a few pages back about the swing dance club. I took some swing classes over the summer with a good friend and had a good time, so I was truly curious when I heard about the AFA club. You mentioned it was for upperclassmen... Only them???

Swing is only for recognized cadets. Therefore, as a 4 dig, you couldn't do it until after March 15thish. Blues is open to 4 digs, and I'm not sure about Salsa. So yes, you would have to wait.

Oh YEA

I heard that you could pretty much get a haircut everyday (if you really wanted to) cause you're paying like 4 dollars a week whether you actually get one or not. Or at least at West Point.
Thanks kinda funny.

Same here. I get my haircut every 2 weeks or so. Keep in mind its still polite and courteous to tip the barber.... ;)

Aklight. Thanks for the clarification hornet and mateus. Something to look forward to I guess.

but then there are those people like me who haven't even been to the barber! I'm loosing $10/month for something I don't even use!

well, I'm a girl, so no, my hair can be long! and my roommates ducktaped me to a chair and cut my hair last semester, so I don't need it done for another month or so! but yeah, boys need to keep their hair short!

Regs for guys say that our hair cannot touch the ears or eyebrows and must be no more than 1 inch in THICKNESS (not length). So for guys like me, that can be pretty long.

back to how we were discussing groups

I know there is a mountain biking team, but is there a distance/tour biking team

I do a 150 mile charity bike ride each year, and I thoroughly enjoy it, but I didnt know if there are a lot of places for that long of rides (or shorter if needed)

back to the hair cut thing

sorry af2012, i though you were a guy.

(for the record: I dont really care about cutting hair, getting haircuts isn't going to keep me away from pursuing the academy, I just find random things interesting)

Hornet, . touch your ears? thickness? I think i get what you're saying. so as long as you keep the hair really close to your head, you can get away with it?

it cant touch your ears at all. and if you were to stick a ruler to your scalp, it cant be more than 1.25 inches thick. it has to be tapered...as in, you can get a number 6 on the top and number 3 on the sides (that's what i get. haha)... sometimes they're more strict on the freshmen's haircuts. but sometimes they arent. just keep it neat and in regs.

haha that's awesome, friend at west point is trying to grow it long enough to get a fauxhawk so he told me he was currently avoiding all visual contact. he's a 2 degree so they're more lax about being on his case, i guess. lol

Duct taped to Chair?

AFA2012-

Why did they cut it for you? Just wondering. What are the hair cut regs for girls? My daughter wants to keep it long and up in a bun. I told her to cut it and not mess with it. Any thoughts? At least it is something to think about besides worrying about letters and SAT's!!

I'm a guy in '12, but I'm pretty sure the girls regs are that their hair can be any length as long as it can be tied up off their neck in two minutes. Some friends of mine got it cut pretty short so they wouldn't have to worry about tying it up and all, but others left it and didn't seem to have too many problems during basic or anything.

Thanks.... we are sitting here freezing and watching Top Gun (I know.. wrong service..) but keeps us from thinking about SAT's, the cold and where she will be going this summer/fall. Guess she will keep it long.. and then if it is a pain she will probably get it cut.
