What To Watch As A COVID-19 Escape

Spies of Warsaw, McMafia and Gangs of London; not in any order. But Spies made me want to read the whole Furst library

We enjoyed "Chuck" until the last season as well. Really psyched about "Psych". Funny, lots of 80's references and a pineapple in ever episode.

I am watching “Cobra,” a PBS thriller series about an extended power outage. Good stuff. Quite unnerving to think about if the same happened in USA.
Am also watching PBS’ current political drama, “Roadkill,” with Hugh Laurie as the deliciously not nice Cabinet minister.

Watched Hillbilly Elegy last night. Excellent acting and makeup. This is a hits-close-to-home story for me as the main character's life and mine parallel in so many ways. I'm also a Son of Appalachia. He escaped to the Marine Corps and I the US Navy. Our mothers were in and out of rehab. One scene had his mother (the Amy Adams character) saying she had a baby at 18 years old. Geez, amateur, I was born to a 15 year old.

Anyway, good flick. Every time one of these stories comes out I kick myself for not writing it it first.

Gonna have to check out "Roadkill". I love Hugh Laurie. I believe he began his career as a comic and is quite the blues man as well.

Five Came Back on Netflix. About five Hollywood directors that brought their expertise to WWII cinema while serving in uniform. Among them John Ford (Navy), Frank Capra (Its a Wonderful Life),William Wyler. All Veterans.

Pulling this bad boy thread up bc I just watched Operation Varsity Blue. Pertaining to the college admissions scandal. Very interesting! The conversations are pulled from actual phone taps. Also deals with sports in colleges.

Verg good!

Thanks for the review, I had this on my weekend watch list. Also hearing good things about My Octopus Teacher.

Every episode, every season of “Horatio Hornblower,” the one with Ioan Gruffydd.

Ditto “Sharpe’s Rifles,” with Sean Bean.

Park me on that sofa and let me binge, and practice a healthful period of “mental distancing.”
The Last Kingdom another series based on Bernard Cornwell books.

Wife and I watched Punisher, Daredevil, and Defenders. All very good unless you don’t like that sort of thing.

Watched first season of The Crown but stopped at season 2 episode one.

Watched the movie I See You. Lots of twists and well done story. The bad guy reveal was a true surprise.

My Octopus Teacher is my very favorite documentary of all time, and I've watched a lot related to nature. It is going to be viewed by my science students this quarter.
Currently, I am getting through any video links our plebe sends me he thinks I would enjoy. Last night it was
regarding modern-day carriers. I was blown away.

Tonight he has me watching how during war games in 2005 the Swedish used a sub to sink the Ronald Reagan. And then it's on to watching one about the Naval Battle during WW2 at the Leyte Gulf.

I keep waiting for another season of Bridgerton and Outlander. In other news, still mad and fuming that the last Game of Thrones book hasn't been released. I made it through 3 episodes of Schitt Creek and had to move on. Meh.

I would have imagined the operators of the Canal would have had a better dredging program in place to prevent this from happening. Does not seem that far-fetched that a ship will get blown out of the middle of the channel every now and again

"Outbreak" is currently streaming on Netflix. Too soon???

I've been watching Hogan's Heroes, The A-Team, MacGyver, and Leverage. Sometimes I just want to be entertained. Otherwise, I have been watching the old Victory at Sea series.
We watched Contagion last Feb I think. Terrifying.
We are currently binge watching Freaks and Geeks and random murder-documentaries. 😂

Its not gong to be a dreading issue. These canals stay deep just from the movement of the deepest draft ships. This will end up being human error - Pilot error most likely.
