Hello,

I will be starting my first year in AFROTC this fall. Our checklist says that Cadets must wear business attire, which includes a navy polo, khaki slacks, and leather shoes. As a very tall female (over 6 feet), I own a pair of khaki skinny jeans that fit me in length. Would I be allowed to wear these or must I purchase a more open legged slack? And any suggestions for shoes would help too.

Thank You

Ask yourself if those "skinny jeans" would be more appropriate on a night club dance floor or in a business meeting / employment interview. Answer to that pretty much answers the other. AFROTC class is more similar to a job rather than a date.

Just commissioned from AFROTC, dress to impress. Get the slacks. It's your first day and you can probably recover from a bad first day but you can avoid simple mistakes like this.

This should not be that hard. (Although the folks at Target still don't do very well at this).

The military doesn’t let you have much leeway - if they say khaki slacks, they do not have khaki skinny jeans in mind.

Check Lands End (online and Sears), LL Bean and Eddie Bauer for Tall sizes for conventional khaki
styles.

Thank you all who replied and suggested stores. While my skinny khakis are on the baggier side, I'll definitely purchase a pair of more formal khaki slacks.

Thank You

Another thing to keep in mind beside classroom attire is what to wear while in the ROTC building between classes or whatever, I'm confident AFROTC is the same, but NROTC required all midshipmen to be wearing collared shirts while in the building. Polo shirts were fine. My son only made that mistake once! :D
