C/O '26 parents - place to commiserate and share. Roller coaster for the next 3 years!

... so I don't understand why a vast majority of alumni in decision level positions and the new Superintendent (according to you) can accept a losing season year after year after year.
According to the former coach (fired after the Army - Navy game), it's not a level playing field when you have 5th year seniors on other service Academies. In all fairness, my DS '26 would rather stay in Bancroft doing homework rather than go to home games. He is tired of watching and losing.
Heck, my plebe is already tired of it. She's a huge football fan and very knowledgeable. It's killing her to watch them lose.

... so DS is off this weekend until Monday. The six-week report card is out.

Do they get Columbus Day off?
Yes, Federal Holiday

That applies for US forces throughout the world if mission allows. We zoomed with my son in Japan last night
and he is off Monday and surprisingly, grandson #1 who is in a Japanese Kindergarten also has it off.

A pleasant surprise - Mid was selected for OPINFO! Will be great to see them over Thanksgiving. Such a pain to fly west we didn’t see them last year.
Such an awesome program! DD did it twice — visiting several schools, speaking to her old club team, and even doing an on-air radio interview. Mids stand a bit straighter, walk a bit prouder, dress a bit neater, speak a bit firmer when they visit high schools as representatives of USNA. Especially when visiting their own high school! They’re truly an importation for those considering SAs.

Can’t wait to see it! Hopefully his old HS where his mom works is on his list!

Was a once in a lifetime memory for me. DS was selected for OPINFO and I was a long term guest teacher at his high school where I had great relationships and had taught for a while. He was also someone staff had supported 100%.

Having him present to six sections of my students with other classes spilling in to sit on the floor was awesome. Proud mama moment. Watching his former teachers, custodians, admin, and counselors beam in pride at him in uniform was priceless.

DS found out yesterday he was selected for OPINFO as well - first block over Thanksgiving break. What a great program - I’m so excited for them all! Guess he’ll have to think outside the box since most schools around here are closed those dates for Thanksgiving week!

If I remember correctly, radio, news interviews were options, Boy Scout meetings possibly as well. I think he had to to six engagements.

Don’t the BGOs arrange the meet and greets?

Nope. They can assist with an intro, if necessary, for example. But this is on the Midshipmen to make contact, set up a visit, and provide a report back. They will be busy!

I’ve always been introduced (via email) to my Midshipman who is working my area, but have never done any assisting. I’ve had exceptional Mids. Including my own son. They have all set their own schedules.

I'm not involved with it the last few years but in the past, the BGOs at least in this area were tasked to arrange and schedule
the visits to the various schools and events. I know this very well because I personally arranged the itineraries over the course
of several years.
