    2026 Candidate - Profile Recommendations

The above advice looks spot on. I would echo: 1. Do the CFA in order as it's timed out, it will make a difference, max is not the assessment. Look up the max, there's zero need to do 20 pull ups, I believe max is 18, don't do more. On the run, it's a 1 mile run, you're a swimmer so I have no...

    tips for CFA

Agree, this has been answered a lot, search and you'll get awesome information. Pull ups, get a pull up bar in your room, or somewhere readily available, and do them any time you walk in or out. As many as possible, every time, just crank.

    What should I improve?

Grades and Athletics seem to be strong (I don't know the size of your current school, you stated last summer you would go to 3 because of military dad. Jr year, you should reach out to your counselor or principal to find out how to get a nomination to Boy's State. Here in Texas, my son had to...

Preparing for BEAST and Women's Boxing

I would agree completely, but add a couple components. Jumping Rope at speed and for duration is extremely helpful. Running on top of that, but jogging isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes you need the Higher Output cardio.

Helpful Tips for Newly Appointed WP Families

One question, I wear Danner and love them and was going to get my son some for RDay in June, but I've seen warnings for Plebe year to stick to what is on the list....and my son does not want to be the one that sticks out like that, ha. Just curious, when you say you like the Danner's is that...

Forms/Instructions For Applicants Offered Admission still not available in Candidate Portal.

This updated? This is strange, we just received a notice on paper that our son is to arrive June 28. I’ll certainly need to have him look. Where exactly in the portal did you see this new date of July 12-14?

Helpful Tips for Newly Appointed WP Families

Awesome, here is what we've learned, my wife and I studying etc. There is a WP Parents 2025 group, lots of info there, it is run by WP admin of some sort I believe Go to the Thayer Hotel on https://www.thethayerhotel.com/ and they have a ton of information, this hotel is on WP campus, and they...

    A predicament

No one can answer this but you. You either live your life expecting the worst and use an abundance of caution, or you do not. I wouldn't judge either. Here in Texas, Wrestling just started last night (but it doesn't go until June) and he never for a second thought about not going, and I don't...

    Completely denied?

Life is a marathon, and Purdue is fantastic. If you are in ROTC you'll get good PT. With being in college I'm not sure the ACT or SAT are as critical, but I would take both. The SAT you get to Super Score so take and take to get a top one. Mile didn't help, work that and don't let up on...

    A little paranoid

I hate to say...I would truly enjoy if my son came to my wife and I and said "Mommy and Daddy, I know I'm accepted to West Point, with the responsibility of becoming an Officer in the United States Army, and want to be an Infantry Officer and literally make decisions that that would be life or...

    Completely denied?

If it's your dream, then it's time to evaluate. Did you have good backup plans or are you just looking to apply next year? What is that plan to get better, if you share your stats maybe someone can provide some guidance. Also, if you're looking to "self prep" to apply again next year, you...

    Private or public high school?

Unfortunately, I think there is a ton to dive into if anyone really wanted to here. I'm pretty deep into athletics in Texas, and I won't disagree with anything stated here. There are nuances though. I would venture to guess, Football and baseball and possibly basketball may not fit this...

How can I improve for the CFA? Do you think I can make it?

Not bad. I would stay off the machine....treadmill. Run outdoors. For training, the intervals are good, you're trying to build your lungs and endurance, obviously the goal is to run the whole thing, but it's not a "jog" it's about driving for a time. A track instructor that works with some...

How can I improve for the CFA? Do you think I can make it?

Yeah, Interval work is big. I would think with that height and weight, under the avg I saw this year (6:46) is definitely doable). Agree.

How can I improve for the CFA? Do you think I can make it?

Just worked on this with my son, he was a wrestler and football player and in good shape, but the mile he was close to your time. BBall, keep throwing, that's a pass score Pullups - get the door one, and just bend your knees. Have this near you, and do it every time you walk in, literally just...

    Fingerprints

My DS called, and went to the Army recruiter. He had to have the codes in the letter received so they transferred over. He had his done last Monday, then sent the email to the contact at WP that requested an email notifying they were done electronically, and they haven't transferred to the...

    COVID-19 VACCINE

My review of the data is that the Johnson & Johnson that is being tested is as or more effective as the other two out now....but J&J after 1 shot, like the flu. Once that rolls....I could see this come out as the mandate in situations like this. ***Warning...this is Speculative Opinion Based...

DISQUALIFICATION LETTER WITH ALL GREEN CHECK MARKS?

I Sports are a must(very rare to not have played a team sport) and get an offer. That is what I was provided, a Varsity Letter doesn't set you apart, team captain does, but a letter is pretty much needed

    Wisdom teeth

Apologies, they are NOT pushing out. I messed up that post. Sounds like others have said if they are not erupting, bothering, the Army will take care of it.
