Anyone hear about kids from Virginia getting Senate Nominations in their USNA portals, but no letters? Heard this happened to a friend and he's unsure if it is a mistake or the letters will come after the holidays. Thanks for your help.
MOC’s can (and do) run their process however they want. They may, or may not, notify candidates. They may, or may not, call or email or snail mail. Additionally, the same MOC may, or may not, do it differently from year to year.

DS #1 showed up in portal (he later received a letter from one of his 3, and nothing from the other 2).

DS #2 received a phone call from same senator #1 received nothing from (and nothing from others).

One thing you can do, is Google MOC XXX ‘service academy nominations’ (or similar search). Eventually they usually announce their slate of candidates for each cycle. If you want assurance that you mr nom is also on your MOC’s list of slate members.

Congrats!

Just got my second rejection from Perdue! Definitely a bummer, really hoping Woodall pulls though for me.
@You I wouldn't stress, my MOC has taken two months and still no response. Purely speculation here, but I'd imagine that they're relying heavily on the interviewers or a board to make the decisions. If any hiccups happen there where there's a delay from the expected timeline it might take a while to get back on track. Try not to stress, and good luck!
Thank you, and wish you the best! 👍

DS received a rejection letter from Senator Duckworth today. No senatorial nomination for DS, but we are extremely thankful for our congressional nomination to USAFA.

Now we sit and wait..

He has been getting some good financial aid (merit scholarships) from some universities he has been accepted to. Other schools won’t admit until Jan/Feb. He has solid plan B options and will be going up for the January AFROTC board which may help even more with finances.

thought AF ROTC next board was February?

It probably is. I most likely have my dates mixed up. I don‘t get any reminder emails or updates regarding his USAFA or AFROTC applications. He did his interview before Christmas so now we wait for the board.

Not much else to do with college applications at this point.

My DD had her interview the 21st and he told her ap would be before the next board in Feb

Did anyone hear back from either Senator Portman or Brown in OH? I have been nominated by Congressman Balderson (OH-12) in early December but I haven't heard anything back from the Senators.

I received UT nominations:
Congressman John Curtis - USAFA
Senator Mitt Romney- USNA

Curtis just popped into my portal, no letter or call or email.
Romney sent a letter via snail mail.

DS received double nomination in NY18 to USMA and a nomination to USAFA. Wasn't sure at first because it showed up on the portal but no letter yet. Finding this forum has been a great wealth of information. just getting a nomination is a great achievement.

Yes! Same for USMA!

Hey everyone, so for NY-20 I just received a nomination as it shows on my portal from my congressman. I am ever-so-grateful, but also confused. USNA was my third choice before USMA and USAFA when I applied, and during my interview the panel made it clear that if I received a nomination it would be to USMA. Furthermore, we rarely have applicants to USAFA from my district so I would imagine that the nom would go there if there was no vacancy to USMA.

I haven't received a call about this nomination, should I be proactive and call the office? Or wait to hear from them?

"Hi! - so for NY-20 I just received a nomination as it shows on my portal from my congressman. I am ever-so-grateful!! Just wanting to confirm AND to see if I'm still in the running for noms for the other 2 academies OR has the nomination process now been completed?":wiggle:

You should call for clarification. My son received a nomination from a NY Senator for a SA he didn’t apply to (they already knew he had one to USNA - the only one he applied to).

Sometimes they give nominations to second and third choices because there were ten other nominations they selected ranked higher to the first choice by the committee.

I assume the Albany area is competitive?
