2028 State Nominations Thread

17th Ammendment determines who will appoint the temporary replacement (Gov. Newsom) until the next CA senatorial election.

I've been somewhat following this issue since 2019 from the death of Rep Cummings, where his nominees/candidates had been "revoked". Hopefully this doesn't happen to CA applicants this time around.

Background story:

Two bills in congress had been submitted but it didn't seem to have been voted on.

Check spam folder for Florida Senator nominating information. My friend received his nomination interview notification and I thought I did not receive an email but it was in my spam folder.

Thanks for the heads up! Did you receive from Scott or Rubio? Or both?

RIP Sen. Feinstein.

Btw, the deadline for Sen. Feinstein noms had been extended up to Oct 15 even prior to this happening.
Seems like they're no longer taking applicants. I assume Sen. Butler will re-open with a later deadline. Already got mine in so I hope things work out.

That’s interesting… no mention of already submitted applications…

I also turned in my application for Senator Feinstein's nomination already... But with her office shut down I doubt they will still give out nominations.

The staff will continue the process. New Senator will be in place and will fill the nom authority role. Elected officials leave office in a variety of ways every year. The process continues.

I believe she was sworn in yesterday. My guess is, given everything going on in DC right now, she will probably roll with the systems in place re: noms

Anyone hear anything from Rick Scott or Marco Rubio in FL yet? Scott’s interviews are supposed to be in Tampa on Oct 14th.
My DS was emailed that he will not get an interview a couple days ago. He is in 97th percentile ACT, top 7% of his class, 3rd in command in JROTC and was selected for both Inspire and SS this year. Already passed CFA. Email states an unprecedented number of applicants in Fl this year.

My gosh!!! WHAT are they looking for, if not stats like this?? Was this just one of the senators? Hopefully the other senator and Rep will be better! Best of luck to your son.
