2028 State Nominations Thread

Hello! Daughter received a nomination from Ferguson in GA-03 on Jan 31. Showed up in her USNA portal.

She contacted Ossoff's office in early December and they informed her that she wasn't selected for an interview.
Congratulations on your daughter's nomination! Love to see GA-03 making its way onto this forum. Thanks for the info, I saw my nomination from Ferguson in my USNA portal on Monday, but nothing in my USAFA portal. However, I've seen that USAFA and USMA like to take longer to submit nomination slates so there's still hope.

Sorry your DS didn't get an interview with Ossoff. If you'd like to know, they told me that roughly 80 people were selected for interviews out of 500 applicants across the four academies requiring nominations.

If anyone receives a nomination from a representative in Kentucky, AND A NOMINATION from Senator Rand Paul I’d appreciate the info.

I received Congressional Nominations to Annapolis, West Point, and Air Force; all from TX37 Lloyd Doggett. All of the nominations are showing in each portal.

Quick Q: If the nomination list is a slate, will the candidate see a nomination in their portal? (How do I know if I have received a primary nomination or a different type, or do I not get to know that?)

A side note is that I also have Presidential nominations for all three.

My son has noms for those three and the portal gives no indication of what type they are.

It will not show the type you get in your USMA or USAFA portal. The only way to know is if your Moc tells you. There is a possible way to see in your USNA portal, but you have to use Java. You can search this forum for Java and the thread should come up that shows you how to do it.

I found the instructions to view the nom type on the USNA portal.

If you are on Crome, click Option + Command+ J at the same time and it will appear. Then just search thought he HTML for the nominations tab. It shouldn't be hard to find, but you can always Command F it. Also if not on Mac Im pretty sure Command button is the equivalent of the Control button

Thanks for the instructions. I wouldn't have thought to pull up the console. I took a look and the code line reads: {"completionDt":"9/22/2023 10:10 AM","isAssigned":false,"isComplete":true,"isValidated":false,"item":"Nomination","itemLbl":"Nomination","itemNo":3}

I take it that "isAssigned":false, means that it is a slate list and that i do not currently have a principle nomination if that congressman does use a primary nomination system.

Look further towards the bottom of the page and you will see it mentions the nomination type again. Here is a screenshot of DS's.

Got it. Thanks. my line reads {... "Texas District 37", "type":"Copmetative"} I take that to mean it's not a primary and a slate of some sort.

*Competitive
Right, it means that the moc didn't rank the slate. The academy will now pick the candidate with the highest overall score. It's likely that the moc used competitive slates for all of the academy noms.

FYI, even with a principal nom there is still a slate, but the moc chooses their top candidate and either ranks the slate (ranked alternate), or not rank it (competitive alternate.)

I may not have all of those terms exactly correct, but you get the idea.

Last night I got a call from my congressman's assistant scheduling a call for this afternoon to review my package with her. I already received a nomination from my congressman in December so I am confused why she would be reviewing my package. Does anyone have insight on why she would want to review my package with her?

Thinking that maybe it's not a call about reviewing your application, but something much more exciting! Fingers crossed for you! When my DS received his appointment to USMA he got a call first from a Congressional staff member to set up a call with our Congressman. Good luck!!

My DS applied to USNA. Good on CFA and MOC nominations (rep and 1 senator). DQ'd in DoDMERB. Still waiting to see if he is competitive enough for a waiver. He attended SS and was invited back for CVW. He has an opportunity to run CC for a school in Arkansas. That is plan B.

Reply to this thread if you're a Texas Applicant/Nominee! Talk about your process so far and represent Texas!
I got Ted Cruz and so did 29 other people, he had three slots this year!

@Holden100 - You were correct. It was a call from my Congressman letting me know I received an appointment to USAFA.

Congratulations!! I'm thrilled to see another TN appointment! If you or your family haven't already reached out to your regional TN parent club, please do so! There's EastTN, MidTN, and WestTN! But I know some folks belong to more than one:) . Lots of fun challenges ahead!! Enjoy this spring!
