AFROTC 2015 Enrollment Allocations

not sure probably 3 or 4 since we dont finish class until around June 20th

Congrats all and now get ready for the bag drag!

My detachment got 5/8 63%. I was one of the five so I'm excited for this summer.

Seems to be a lot of variation in the % of EA's given by Det. I've seen 63% up to 100% for Det 910. Is this normal? Also, any indication how the AS500's are doing this year, figure there are a lot given the rough year it was last year.

Yes, this is common. That is why it is important when you do the school visit you meet with the units and ask what do you need to get an SFT slot from a historical standpoint. Yes, last year was painful, but overall the units should know what their cadets needed.

Here is the stats for my det's acceptance rate as far as my memory serves. Both AS500's that competed this year, including myself, were selected.

2015 - 6/9 = 66%
2014 - 10/16 = 63%
2013 - 17/21 = 80%
2012 - 5/6 = 83 %

In my class we only had 2 AS200s including myself and 1 AS250 receive EA slots. Out of the AS500s we had 4 compete and only 2 received EA slots.
2015= 63%
2014= 58%
2013= 77%

500s are always going to have a lower rate impo. It would be the equivalent of being promoted above the promotion zone (ABZ). Chances in the ADAF world to be promoted ABZ is much lower than in zone.
~ Thought process is why give someone the 2nd chance and deny someone in zone?

To those who got EAs, if you feel comfortable would you want to post your stats?

It will be interesting to see this years breakdown from HQ AFROTC and then the det. stats of posters here. There are some that had 100% and some that had 60%, thus equaling the 83% national average.

I would be curious to see not so much the cgpa, because that is like the HS cgpa for scholarships. You can't compare an MIT student to Timbucktoo U even if they are both tech majors. However, the AFOQT impo would give a glean into the academic stats. The size of the units are also a factor.
~ Probably the largest factor due to the algorithm they use regarding the ranking.

If you post stats I would suggest you add the size of the unit and AFOQT scores.

Finally for 100s looking towards next year, DO NOT impo place a lot into the stats from last year to this year. Instead look at the number awarded. Basically LY they awarded the exact same amount as TY, and the overall rate was under 60%, TY it has been stated to be 83%. Difference is the size of the pool. HQ AFROTC has decided for both year groups they needed the same number.
~ Hint: look at your year group now, ask the 200s is it significantly larger/smaller than when they were 100s?
~~ 250s always will exist, but this gives you an idea
~~~ My DS commissioned in 2012. They commissioned @2300 for his year group. SFT was 55% for them. Fall 2012 (SFT 2014) at his det. saw them start with 185 100s compared to 100 100s the year before. The year group (SFT14/ commissioned 2016) were twice the size.(100% increase)
~~~~ HQ meanwhile reduced commissioning by 20% in the amount of cadets offered SFT. If you start to do the math than you can see how nontech/nonrated was going to take a huge hit. The pool was much larger. Many people wrap themselves up in the stats only, they forget that for the AF they have a 5 year plan, they know how many they want to commission.

Again, look at the number for commissioning and not SFT selection rate. It was really only a 20% drop. If you go back through the bowels here you will see USAFA for the class of 2012/13, they offered 1650+ appointments. For 14 they offered @1350 or 20% cut. It has remained @1350 for USAFA ever since that time,... the class size for 19 has yet to be released.T he difference between USAFA and AFROTC, USAFA is manageable early on regarding commissioning/offers and AFROTC can't control it until the 200 year point because scholarship cadets are the minority.
~ AFROTC scholarship award rate for HSSP is @16-18% of those boarded.
~ AFROTC has many walk one (100/250), and scholarship recipients are not activated until they show up as 100s, plus they can walk after their 100 year. It is just too fluid for them compared to USAFA.

Just saying food for thought when everyone reads this and starts to pick away why/how/what it may mean.

Last year's stats

Non tech/non rated
CGPA: 3.7
PFA: 96.7
AFOQT Score translated into SAT - 940
Top half commanders ranking

This year
Non tech/ non rated
CGPA: 3.37
PFA: 95.3
AFOQT Score translated into SAT (Retook AFOQT) - 1040
Top half commanders ranking

It all depends when you apply I guess. No 17% acceptance for Non tech/ non rated this year. I'll take my 5th year and begin my masters if possible, I'm already dual majoring as it is.

Figured I would share this with everyone. I was told this morning the nation wide EA acceptance was 82.88%. Grats to all those who got a slot.
