The sheet says

Sports - Sanctioned Varsity Sports Only
So does Freshman and JV basketball not count for anything? Or should I put that in School Team Events or just off completely. Also in music participation does only school activities count? I'm in a band and have played at pizza joints and even been studio recorded. Should I add that? I also live in California and one of the headings says, "Camp Fire". I volunteered at shelters in my hometown of Chico but that was in 12th grade. The activity sheet says only 9th-11th grade.

Thank you for your time!

@Ew3081, you are seeking to enter the military, where precision, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions are highly valued attributes for future commissioned officers. So a big part of determining whether you’d be a capable cadet/mid and officer is to see if you are precise, pay attention to detail and can follow instructions.

Does that make sense? If so, go back and read your post. I trust you’ll be able to answer your own questions. For example, you’re asked to list “varsity sports.” Still want to include freshman and JV sports?

I've never seen the AFROTC application but I'm confident there is a section to list other activities. Seems like JV sports could fall under that. Of course, if there is no section, c'est la vie.

The AFROTC application only allows for Sanctioned Varsity Sports to be entered.

If you really MUST include JV team sports, include it in the "School Team Events" section. I'd leave it off, though. You can always bring it up in your interview.

Don't include 12th grade activities, but you can mention them in your interview. The instructions to not include any 12th grade activities are specifically in all caps, so it would seem to be a very bad idea to include them.

Camp Fire is an alternative scouting organization. If you were part of it, then add it. If not, then don't. Being from CA is irrelevant..

It looks like anything can be put in music participation, but if you include a non-school band, make sure that's not something that would be held against you later for graphic lyrics, inappropriate content, etc. If it is, then leave it off.

Beyond that, MidCakePA is right. Being an AF Officer is pretty much like trying to join a club. If you can't act the part and follow the club rules, they won't let you in.

The application is the first test.
