AROTC Board 2

My older DS had a 3.8 and a 28/1230 ACT/SAT, tons of leadership, and a phenomenal athlete. He applied to the second board was boarded and got a 3 year 3rd board. Currently at USMA top 25% of his class, top 1% in physical fitness.
Did he get in to USMA with those stats or did he reapply the following year after taking the ARTOC 3-year?

He went to the prep school for first, but his classmate had the exact same stats (maybe even worse) and got straight in with a principal nom, but struggled his plebe year. I'm really happy DS went to Prep first.

Some of us are here because we can be. We simply responded to your comment. With all respect, it’s not that deep. It was a simple response we gave you. I’m a student who has applied for this scholarship and I don’t have very high standardized test scores, so from my perspective I don’t really like to seek out what was the lowest score I’ve seen obtain the scholarship, rather I understand they have minimums, 1000 SAT and 19 ACT. I’m above that but I personally feel like from the perspective of a student of course let them know what the required minimum score is, and simply encourage them to strive for the highest possible score they can obtain. I feel like being told I must achieve a very high score or “here’s the lowest one I’ve heard obtain a scholarship” isn’t necessarily helpful nor encouraging.
If it’s their passion to serve their country and obtain this scholarship and to strive for this, I personally don’t like being compared to other or comparing myself to others. Just be yourself, participate in Extracurriculars that make you happy, and do the best you can on your Standardized tests.
i believe that is the greatest thing you can tell your students.

Once again, you're reading in to my question. We agree to disagree, it's not that deep. I really don't care that it bothers some of you that I wanted to know other people's stories and scores! :)

You're implying I don't encourage my students to follow their passion and be happy. Maybe don't assume and imply things like that to people. My advice, get off your high horse and don't assume.
You don’t need to be rude. I was just responding. I never once stated nor implied that you don’t encourage them I was just stating how from a students perspective that’s what I feel is the best advice. It was a generalization, NOT directed at you. My advice, calm down, please don’t be rude.

Since some of you know everything, why are you on here? I didn't ask your opinion on whether or not I am worrying or second guessing or whether I should or not. My questions was, what the lowest score was you have seen obtain the scholarship.

You didn't ask for others to share stories, you simply asked what was the lowest score seen, if you want stories or comparisons of stats from previous scholarship winners there are threads full of them on this board that you can search through.

Knowing the lowest scores do not matter, even for comparison, because each year is different. The application process has changed many times over the past few years and it continues to change. The state of the economy, whether we are in an active conflict, and many more factors go into the process every year. What may be a test score that is too low one year may be just fine the next. If you want to know more detail of what goes into an application and what will help in the selection process then ask broader questions and people will be more then willing to share.

I simply just wanted to know how low of scores people have seen receive scholarship and got hammered with unsolicited advice.
Ya, I didn't ask for your scolding.

Hey, did anyone hear where the iguanas are going into hibernation and falling from trees in FL because of the cold? Lol some guy picked up several off the ground and put them in his car. When the car warmed them up they woke up and went crazy and the guy wrecked haha

Just thought I would would derail this to keep my mind busy from being an OCD Portal stalker 👀

I didn't realize this wasn't a place that we can not ask questions about former scholarship winners. Guess this is just here for people to give their opinions on what others should or shouldn't be doing or thinking. Good luck everyone!

yeah and I didn’t realize that if you respond with simple info to someone’s question, it would make someone act that unprofessional and petty 😳
Anyways, good luck to those applying ! Hope everyone has a good day

You're reading into what I meant by story incorrectly. But I simply don't care anymore. I thought we were free to ask questions on here, guess not!
