AROTC Board 2

@JBfortunecookie1 They go through the stack of new (incoming) applications, first in first out. There are many applications coming in all the time. They review and score as many as they can, in the time allotted for that board. Then they go through the OML (all the scored application including holdovers from previous boards) and make awards to those who are above the bar for that board. At the final board they go through all new incoming application applications and score them all. Then they go through the OML and make the remaining awards.

So - first in, first out is a statement about getting on the OML, not the overall process.

My son was moved to boarded yesterday and this morning he got an email from one of his schools saying "congrats just learned you may have been offered a scholarship with the xx battalion...". Is that the email that comes out from the schools because they know the results before the applicants do?
btw - Jarhead713 - thank you for your input on these chats. It has been very helpful!
My son got an e mail from one of his choices saying he had been awarded a national scholarship. It did not say if it was a three year or a four year. I do not think he has heard from anyone else yet. He was moved from B/UC to Boarded yesterday.

Thank you for the response. So when I was guaranteed I'd be looked at that was a lie then?

I do not think the person who told you that you would be looked at intentionally lied to you. My guess is he was answered you what he believed from his particular position. Since he was not on the board and most probably not the one who set the cutoff that was given to the board he gave you what he thought was correct information.

No, I wouldn't say that. And further you don't know for certain you were not looked at. Keeping the portal up to date in these matters is not always the first priority, I was simply offering a possible explanation if it wasn't. Certainly your recruiter has no idea of how many applications are in the stack before yours gets there. Who really knows why it wasn't look at, if it was, in fact, not looked at. In any case it makes no difference at this point. It's a grin and bear it situation and you need to wait it out until you hear. BTW, even if it was looked at you may not be awarded a scholarship by this board but can still receive one later. You've got more important things to think about right now, especially since you cannot change the way things are. Go study for that test, or go have some fun. Better yet, work out so you'll be ready to report when a scholarship does come.

Hello all, I had a quick question. My application is still deemed as "Boarded" but yesterday I received an email from the ROO at Ole Miss congratulating me on winning the scholarship and recruiting me to go there. Is this a mistake since results have not been posted?
I doubt it was a mistake, but you should not mention the school you heard from. As stated in other threads and earlier in this thread, the schools are instructed not to tell people before cadet command releases the board results to portal. These boards are public and monitored by many people. You do not want to be the reason a ROO gets a phone call or email asking about his/her practice of notifying early.

I like the way the email says "may have been offered". Not a definite notification, but hovering right on the line. Schools are not suppose to notify people before Cadet Commands updates the portal. From my time doing this, most ROOs do not send anything out. If you got something, you can make the assumption that an offer is coming. You may very well get more than the offer from this school. Congrats to your son.
way to go!
