Boarded/Under Consideration

They updated the description for Boarded/Under Consideration:

"Boarded/Under Consideration: This applicant falls into one of two categories: If you were Boarded during the OCT Board, you were not selected to receive an offer from that Board; however, you remain eligible to receive an offer from our JAN or MAR Boards. If you were Boarded on the JAN Board you are in this status simply because the results from that board are yet to be processed."

I'm glad they clarified! Must have gotten a lot of panicked phone calls! Hopefully only 2-3 weeks to go!

My son is Boarded/Under Consideration and this is what his said. "Boarded/Under Consideration: This applicant falls into one of two categories: If you were Boarded during the OCT Board, you were not selected to receive an offer from that Board; however, you remain eligible to receive an offer from our JAN or MAR Boards. He did not compete in the OCT board so he would be in the 2nd category.

I’m at the pre-knob overnight stay for the Citadel right now for AROTC, last night the ROO here said that we would find out next week if we won or not.

My son has the same status of "Pending Board/Under Consideration" but received a call from one of his schools (voicemail) from the ROTC officer saying "Congratulations, you were our first pick -- scholarships are coming your way." .... Do I trust this call? Has anyone else had such a call? In the info on the Army ROTC sight, they said such a call may happen but I am not sure I trust it. Thoughts?

This may be just a campus scholarship. There is no telling unless you call them. Virginia Tech called me yesterday and left a message saying to cal them back about the National ROTC Scholarship. When I did, they said the deadline for the last board was approaching. It had nothing to do with the status!

Thanks for your reply. It was weird though, the Officer definitely said "Congratulations." I guess we will just have to wait and see if we get a letter or a change in status.

My daughters application status also is Boarded/under consideration. Down on the bottom it gives an explanation in a red box.

Did you not read the whole paragraph?

The post you quoted was written before they updated the description you just referenced....so yes, I'm sure they read the whole paragraph that was written at the time.

yes and im waiting until i get my scores in from the ACT

Ok I'm confused, on another thread you said no, you did not score lower on your scores, but on this thread you said you did.....which is it?

Query regarding the status change from "Boarded/Under consideration" to "Boarded" once again, does this mean that my DD is placed in the OML for this board? Does this mean that she got the scholarship? A couple of minutes after the change of status in the ROTC portal, her #1 school of preference personnel called up particularly from the Admission's Scholarship and enrollment to tell my DD that the school want her. Can you shed some possible explanation on this. Thanks.

This is that strange time between the board meeting and the official results. During this time applicants get messages from Battalions expressing a strong interest in the applicant, the status page seems to go through changes that simply confuse everyone. Some battalion ROO's see a list of whose been boarded and start sending out messages to show their interest, this doesn't mean that the results are out and sometimes is just part of their recruiting process. In the end it just seems to make things more confusing.

From the sounds of it your daughter was reviewed by the board and is on the OML for this go around. When you said that your daughter received a call, was it from the ROTC department or the school itself? It could very well be that they saw that she was boarded and they are getting out front and expressing that they would like her to select their school if she receives a scholarship.

It can get hard to navigate all the messages an applicant receives after they are boarded. I remember my younger son started receiving calls, after he was boarded, from Battalions he didn't even list on his application wanting him to consider their school and ROTC program. My son was all excited thinking it meant he received a scholarship, in reality they were simply recruiting calls.

The best thing you can do is avoid all the white noise until the status pages are updated, once updated there will be a clear posting that indicates either a "Winner" notice or it will remain with the "Boarded" message until the completion of the third board.

Hang in there, it should only be a week or so before the official notice comes out, as long as they don't shut down the government again, then all bets are off to how long it will take.

Thanks. Just to clarify more, the personnel from the school who called up was from ROTC scholarship department. Hoping for a good result ... and no shut down!
