Holy smoke- 4 minutes into the 2d Quarter of the Rose Bowl and it's 21-21. It's more like watching a track meet between Oregon and Wisconsin. they said that the combined average point total for these two offenses this season is 90 points/ game. I think we might get there.
Go Ducks:thumb:

Sorry TPG- not your year. The Rose Bowl was one heck of a game though-lived up to the billing:thumb:

Almost got those 90 points.

Very exciting game to watch. No opinion on the outcome.

Watching the Colts' first round pick in waiting now...

And the Fiesta bowl was the same- Stanford- OK State.:thumb:Wow! - another one where both Offenses lived up to the advance billing. Wouldn't want to be the Stanford Kicker though after shanking three.

I don't know what to think about the Big 10. We'll see how Michigan does tonight against Va Tech. I think Tech is seriously over rated this year (though Michigan may be as well). My prediction- Blue and Maize by 7 but it won't be as entertaining as the games yesterday. ("Maize"? Why couldn't they just call it yellow? Michigan has a way better fight song though!)

I think that the quality of the Rose and Fiesta Bowl's this year just highlight again how idiotic the BCS is- after watching the aerial bombardments in those two games- if Alabama beats LSU: why should they automatically be crowned king? IMHO- Never gonna change, too many $$$ involved in all of these Bowl games and they won't shorten the regular season long enough to allow a playoff system.

[]VMI at William &Mary[/B]. Ok- it's been 25 years since we last beat W&M but this is the year, you can feel it in the Air!!:thumb: :thumb::thumb:Rah Virginia Mil!!!

Bruno, not to be a PITA, but honestly *how many* football games has VMI won this year? Of course, basketball is an entirely different matter.

2 but the evidence of being a Fan is to be one whether you win or lose. I mean any twit can root for a team that wins all the time- it's like the Red Sox fans who joined the Red Sox Nation since 2004: big deal- where were you for the previous 86 when "wait till next year" was the watch cry? That's what being a fan is all about- supporting them even when they are lousy JUST BECAUSE they are your team.
Now back to the games at hand- VA Tech v Michigan - It seemed like Tech dominated most of the game yet came up short in the end. Meh- I still say they were too high in the rankings and shouldn't have been there. Tonight - Clemson and West Virginia- I dunno- I really don't care about either of these two.

It was a great game. Fun to watch. :thumb:

Hmm, so what does that make the Big Ten the last two years in Bowl Games - 1-9? oh well, maybe next year.

This year the Big Ten is 4-6 in bowls. Last year they were 3-5. That makes for a combined total of 7-11.

This year the ACC is 2-5 in bowls with one left to be played, and 4-5 last year for a combined record of 6-11 or 7-10, depending on tonight's outcome.

The SEC is currently 4-3 in bowls, with two yet to be played. The championship is a wash, since it will cause a win and loss for the SEC. The SEC's best possible bowl record this year 6-4, or 5-5 at worst. Last year they went 5-5 in bowls, with a best possible combined total of 11-9 or at worst 10-10.

The Pac-12 is currently 2-5 in bowls. Last year's record was 2-2 for a combined 4-7 record.

The Big-12 went 6-1 so far in bowls, with the possible 7-1 coming tonight. They went 3-5 last year for a combined possible record of 10-6 or 9-7.

The SEC's best teams have been the best. But otherwise it's been fairly even.

It didn't seem like VT dominated the game. They DID dominate. VT doubled Meeechigan's offensive output (344 yds to 177 yds) and almost doubled the number of first downs (22 to 12).

All true of course. Also true is that winning beats the heck out of losing. I have heard that the poor football players at VMI endure a lot of grief from their fellow cadets over their record. You gotta feel for them. As VT v. Michigan, it was hard to believe that VT lost that one. They were clearly the better team, IMHO. The best game by far this bowl season was the Rose Bowl! Both teams were great and I have always had a soft spot for the Ducks (having grown up on Washington State).

As sure as the sun rises and sets, this will always be the case.

Two wins is practically a winning season for the Keydets.

I agree. The Rose Bowl was really a wide open, exciting game- followed by OK St-Stanford. Last night was kind of dull, tonight will be Bleh and LSU/Alabama will be like watching Rhinos mate 6-3 the last time, probably will be 50% higher this time- so still a snoozer.

You got to respect them for hanging in there. Hope springs eternal...

Indeed. It is sorta unfair: The offenses get all the glory, but a great defense offers the surest path to a winning record.

Old news now but...MICHIGAN WON THE SUGAR BOWL!!! :jump1::jump1:

I'm new around here - just browsing some of the topics.

Did any of you enter into a bowl pick-em competition? Any bets riding on any big games?

Just curious!

We all did here and my son is currently in first place (nearly $200 payout!). If Kansas State can win tomorrow (iffy, I know) then he clinches it for sure! I won't say how I'm doing other than I'm really close to being in 52nd place which gets you your $5 back (just a random thing they do in our pool!). How about you?
