Calling All Football Fans

I hope you don't need that $5, Marciemi, because I can guarantee Kansas State won't win today.

JerryWorld is a home field for the Razorbacks, not too mention the best receiving corps in the nation vs. the 104th best pass defense. Should be fun

That's what Arkansas said last year when the Buckeyes showed them the door.

The best receiving corps belongs to Okie State. Frisbee-catching dogs, almost.

I was lower level in the end zone last year at that game. I watched the Razorbacks give that game away in dropped balls and failed fumble recoveries. ARK easily(as said by most all sportscasters) has the best set of starting receivers in the NCAA. Also, the special teams player of the year and Arkansas Razorback, who runs a 4.2 40, Joe Adams, had a stroke 2 years ago during the season.

Now this is a guy who has a tough new job. I think he rose to the top with the public dressing down he gave to Tom Brady after Brady threw an interception (I suspect that the thinking was: "Who has the pair to scream at Tom Brady? Must be a passionate devoted guy".) Good luck Coach O'Brien.

Not sure if the same approach will work handling the disgruntled PSU fans who wanted someone with a connection to the team hired.

The only way to quiet them down is winning. Anthing else will just get the over-the-top faithful even more riled up.

Probably the toughest coaching assignment out there. Best of luck to him.

Anyone underwhelmed by the National Championship Game tonight?
SEC v SEC.
Just curious if this match-up is interesting to those outside the SEC.

goaliedad and bruno,

He was not Penn State's first choice, by any means. I was personally introduced to him yesterday, at the Penn State basketball game. I said to him I supported his hiring of him, but he should resign as offensive coordinator of New England. Because he has now made a comittment to Penn State, after signing a nice contract.

It's of grave importance to me. Although my son has already locked up 2nd place in the bowl pool we're in (and nearly $100), if Alabama wins tonight I end up in a tie for 52nd place! :thumb: This is the place that they randomly selected years back to give someone doing, um, not so well, the chance to get their money back. So I could win a whole $2.50! (yes, that's 2 dollars and 50 cents, not $250!). Go Alabama!

Marciemi - Nooooooo!!!!! I'll send you the $2.50 - but please don't say that!

Relax! He didn't issue the correct cheer for that school (which I will refrain from using myself as well). My employer has a different cheer that you probably don't appreciate either.

Enjoy the game!

Woohoo! Looking like I'm going to be able to get TWO items from the dollar menu tomorrow! (sorry Buff!)

Sominex couldn't have done a better job than this game- serious snoozefest. Just highlights the screaming need for a playoff, because both the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl were way more interesting with high powered offenses. Would be pretty darn interesting to see if Bama's Defense would have as much luck stifling those offenses.

Definitely not a high scoring shootout like most people want, but those were definitely the two best teams in the nation with ridiculous defenses and mediocre offenses. I had to cheer for the Tide because it's against my religion to root for the SwampCats from Baton Rouge.

If you thought the SEC was good this year, just wait for next season. It will be even crazier. :thumb:

Breaking news:
LSU can't make it back to Baton Rouge, someone painted a 50 yard line across I-10
:thumb:

Anyone having college football withdrawals? I am. I HATE basketball....

Must be an SEC fan, then.

As someone who went to an ACC school, and has two children currently attending ACC schools, all I can say is College Basketball is soooooo much better than College level football. For a wide variety of reasons, not the least of which is that the true champion is determined on the court, and not via a popularity contest.

March Madness: the BEST sporting event every year. :thumb:

Love College at any level rather than Pro. More passion. College basketball and football is much better than NBA or NFL. UCONN women are fun to watch alhough having some problems this year.

This just shows how different conferences are. SEC basketball is just something we tolerate until football season starts again. Once football starts, there is nothing else. Even when football is not in season, all talk is on football.

This week showed a lot about what NFL teams with the week off kept their focus and motivation.
