QUESTIONS:
1. Do I qualify given that my push-ups and mile time are sub-par?
2. If I submit my results, can a resubmit improved results?

I would like a definitive answer on the second question because I would like to keep submitting my improved results.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

SCORES:
- BB: 77FT
- PULL-UPS: 11
- SHUTTLE: 8.0
- SIT UPS: 88
- PUSH-UPS: 40
- MILE: 7:18

BACKGROUND
For people figuring out what their CFA mile would be compared to their base mile, I ran 6:09 a few days prior to taking my practice CFA

Nobody can tell you with 100% certainty except USMA themselves. I stressed about my CFA scores as well but just said YOLO and submitted them anyways. That was back in August. I'm still waiting to hear back. I had similar pushups and basketball throw as you but was better in the other events. Haven't been told I failed yet, so I'm hoping it's a good sign.

Based on previous forums it seems like it's one and done. Take this with a grain of salt though, as there are always exceptions.

You can always wait to submit until later. The only risk you run is if you get injured and won't be healed in time for the deadline. I got injured but am very lucky and already submitted my CFA.

1. Assuming that all of your pushups meet standards, this is likely a passing score - though a close call on some of the events. Only your RC can answer the question about whether you passed definitively. RCs do not make the decision on their own - so you may not get a quick answer even if you inquire.

2. No, a second CFA submission is not automatically permitted. You would need permission from your RC. Don’t count on it though it has been known to happen.

Understood. Thank you for your help, sir.

Solid pass.

Exactly the same for me. Did a 6 minute the week before, 7:08 on the actual cfa.

Keep in mind that running a mile at the end of the CFA (when you are somewhat tired due to the other events) is completely different than just running a mile for time independently.
If you can practice the entire CFA within the time constraints, it would be very helpful for improving your score.

Yeah my CFA mile was tough. I'm a sub 4:30 miler and took the CFA while I was in cross-country season, and I barely squeezed under the max. I got a 5:19 but almost didn't make the sub 5:20. Definitely don't underestimate this part of the test.

There is no such thing as "definitive answers" from an online forum. If you want something close to a definitive answer, you should connect directly with your admissions team.

To your stats, your push up numbers would be passing if they are all accurately scored, but the number is a little low. Your mile time is well within passing range. Your other scores are generally above average which will help your overall CFA score.

Has anyone had a delay in processing for the CFA. I finished my application going on two months now but my CFA is still pending.

Don’t think of it as a delay, but normal admissions cycle time. They have from now until mid-April or later to offer you an appointment. Of course, they prefer not to drag it out either.

There are thousands of CFAs and other application materials converging on USMA from now until the deadline. All those videos have to be reviewed by people for whom this is not a full-time duty, and there are not hundreds or even dozens of people doing it. It could have been reviewed, but not updated yet in the applicant-facing portal.

Imagine doing this in the pre-internet, pre-instant confirmation age, where an applicant submitted an application by mail, and sometime in the spring, received either a big fat appointment packet or thin white envelope with no offer - and nothing in between, for several months. Those candidates survived the wait, and so can you.

Good for you that you hustled to get it all done and submitted. Now you can focus on tending alternate plans, finishing this school year strong, enjoying friends and family.

If it get to be the week before Thanksgiving and you still haven’t seen any status update, call the appropriate contact in your Admissions team, and ask them to confirm they have it. I assume you confirmed it was sent with no problems by your CFA administrator.

I have an LOA with a due date of November 13th, do you think it would get withdrawn if my CFA is still pending by then?

If you mean that the review is still pending but you have submitted the CFA scores and videos, I don't think you have any issue with respect to the LOA being withdrawn. You will have done your part. Check with your RC on this (to give yourself some comfort). But, you should not be worrying.
