Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Are 4 degrees/cadets in general allowed to go to away games? Two students from my high school will be firsties at west point next year...the army game is away and it would be awesome to see them again if I can, especially since they've been mentoring me throughout high school.

You guys are cracking me up tonight! The diversion is great because I have officially lost it. The other morning my son and I were convinced his car had been stolen from the driveway. I was about to pick up the phone to report it to the police when he remembered that he'd met me at work the night before and we'd forgotten to pick it back up.

Got an acceptance letter from the Coast Guard Academy today! Still waiting for the Air Force Academy though... I will now be driving home everyday from school durring my lunch break to check the mail box, a little obsessive i know, but this decision is driving me crazy! Waiting is my least favorite thing to do, especially when it is going to determine my future for the next 4 years...

Why drive home early to check your mailbox? I drove to Colorado to spend my spring break stalking my admissions counselor Haha!

Well, midterm grades have been submitted for us Falcon preps so I guess technically it could be any day. Our counsellor has said early-mid April but we're hoping sooner. Still Mail Box stalking... :frown:

Congrats!

Congratulations to you! The Coast Guard Academy has a much smaller class size and is more selective as a result. What a great accomplishment! Best of luck to you! :thumb:

Boy...is anyone getting sad of running up to the mailbox and seeing nothing?
God help us:shake:

haha us college kids dont have the pleasure of stalking our mailboxes, but my cellphone is never not on me :yllol:

I am constantly checking the online portal even though I know that will probably be the last to change, I am also calling my parents at noon daily to check to see if there is any mail for me. I just want to know already! I can't wait much longer!

But when I got home, still no mail? DS came out to help with packages, so I asked him, "Did you already check the mail?" (Yes!) "Was there anything Good?" (He knew exactly what I was asking.) He said YES, and started to smile BIG! Then DS said, "The Home Designer Catalog came for you!" I could've spanked him (but he's bigger than me). Good that he's keeping his sense of humor. :shake:
That's hilarious... gotta love a sense of humor like that!

I'm becoming more and more at peace with the process. I've been looking up everything (dining out videos, drill team information, etc etc) about my plan B's AFROTC detachment and am planning on visiting one of their leadership labs this month. It's really exciting to know that the Air Force has invested in me...

That said, the mailbox is still my favorite after-school hangout.

The stages of mail box stalking...

   :frown:  :unhappy:  :unhappy:

I think we're at about number 8...

Best

DS who has never been one to check the mailbox is now getting the mail before me when he gets home everyday. I never thought I would see the day that he would check the mailbox. I guess he's got MSF (mailbox stalking fever) too!

Living overseas I don't have the pleasure/fear of checking the mailbox! By the way, how much 'power' (best word I could think of) does an ALO have on a candidate's application? Because in September I had my interview and she said that everything I put on the table was great etc.. and that I would be a great asset to the Air Force.... just wondering...

ALO's will submit to the AFA a recommendation for their candidates, and that is part of the WCS. I won't swear by it, but I believe it is part of the 20% ECs section. I recall our DS's ALO stated flat out to him, I gave you MAX points, and ranked you as my number 1 candidate.

So, yes, if comes down to even 2/10ths of a pt between you and another candidate on the slate, the ALO may have been the one that pushed you past the finish line.

Thanks for that info! My ALO has definitely been a great help through my application! I feel a lot better now! :thumb:
