Just a bit of back story on my appointment, I was pulled out of lunch today by a teacher and told to go to the main office. I thought I was in trouble because literally 20 minutes prior to that I had gone to my car to get gym clothes, we are technically not allowed to go to our cars during the school day. However, when walking towards the doors of the main office I looked through the window and saw the head guidance counselor holding a phone. I have become very good friends with this man through my boy scout troop where he is an adult leader. Additionally, his son is a junior and is looking to attend the air force academy. When I saw him through the window holding the phone I had a sneaking suspicion of what was going on, but as I walked up to him he said nothing and just handed me the phone.

The conversation that took place next was between myself and the congressman that had nominated me. He said that an admissions counselor at the academy had called him and he wanted to be the first to notify/congratulate me on receiving an appointment. I thanked him for honoring me with an appointment and after that everything that came out of my mouth probably didn't make sense because I was shaking so much. The first period after lunch I was scheduled to take a latin quiz, however, after telling my teacher(who had written one of my recommendations) about the appointment he told me to "go to the bathroom"(basically just leave for the period) and call my parents. I called my father first and was half hoping for him to be in a meeting because I knew he was going to get emotional, unfortunately he wasn't but I still got him to bawl. After that to extend my time out of latin I called my BGO to give him the news and he was absolutely ecstatic. Since then word has spread quickly through my grade and all i'm hoping is that my mother doesn't find out before I surprise her tonight with the news.

As of this moment I have no idea how I am going to possibly thank everyone that has helped me during this process and to not be a committed athlete or have an LOA but find out now about the appointment, Christmas truly did come early.
