Class of 2024: The Journey Begins

Alot of the patches you see like this are created by Sailors and Marines while on deployment. They are usually purchased in bulk and sold. Many times the profits lead to a large party for a squadron or Dept after returning from a deployment.

Hi - I don’t recall the guidance to only use USPS. Can you advise where this was posted?

The FB parent pages explained that detailers go to the Post Office and collect their Plebe's mail during Plebe Summer. Apparently, some other packages still make it....some kind soul takes the time to get a stray package to the post office, to the right company bin out of empathy for the Plebe. But it's not recommended because anything but USPS has a lot higher frequency of packages returned as undeliverable, or severely delayed.

We were told by U.P.S. that they wouldn't deliver to a P.O. box, but adding 1 Wilson Road in front of that P.O. box number is where the magic happens.
Keep in mind that the Plebes probably have not been given their PO Box information yet. Usually happens at the end of Plebe Summer.
___ Company, ____ Platoon
No "__ Platoon" is used this summer, due to the lack of lettered companies. "__ Company" is all that is needed.

Company" is all that is needed.
Yes, very timely! We have been using just the company, based on our FB board instruction before I-days. USNA updated the document a few hours ago. It now shows:

DD reported 1 July. Drop-off was quiet, actually (no other cars in line, surprisingly, at 0930), so snapped a few pics of her walking away. Didn't find any pics of her on the alum photo page :)(), but found a few of her roommate, so that was fun.

I've lost it several times since her departure. Our HS senior son now drives the older family car that she had been driving, so that is different. My now work-at-home office faces the piano in the music room that she played almost daily since she was 6 yo. She gave a senior recital in mid-June at our local church that was attended by many, many of her HS friends and adult mentors (teachers, coaches, neighbors, etc.). She was practicing for the recital for ~2 hours each day leading into the event. She even played a special song for me (Dad) in the recital. COMPLETELY lost it then.
The piano now sits silent.

John Mellencamp, in the liner notes to his 'Scarecrow' album, quoted: "There is nothing more sad or glorious than generations changing hands". I know that all too well now.

DD's journey begins, and for that I am grateful and thrilled. Her older sister is a firstie at USAFA. I am thankful beyond words that they have chosen the paths that they have.

GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

Could you please show the path to find the album photo page of 2020 plebe summer? I've been searching, but not able to find yet. Thank you

If you’re thinking of the photo album posted by USNA Alumni Association, you first need to become a member. From there, they’ll direct you to the link on the website. Or, if you’re already a member, you just need to find the link and use a password.

Don’t know if there were any USNAAA photographers working the four I-Days. If not, then likely won’t be any photos posted until after swear-in and the real fun starts. At that point, you’ll have to be patient because photos take a couple days to post, and not every platoon/company will be covered every day.

I think you may be referring to the Naval Academy Alumni Association photo program. They are a separate non-profit 501(c)3, independent of but closely associated with USNA itself. [USNA is USNA.edu: the Alumni Assn is USNA.com]

Mid parents are allowed to join the alumni Assn, which many do, for the access to the thousands of photos. There was a recent thread discussing the pros and cons of parent membership.

Start here:

The alum photo page I referred to is indeed the Alumni Assoc. (USNA.com) photo catalog. It is under the PARENTS section pull-down, once you have joined and have a Login and PW.
To date they have only posted photos from the 4 days of I-day drop-offs. I'm sure it will kick into high gear when PS really starts on 17 July.

Sorry, can you bear with me..
I've joined & have parent acct since my DS started the Plebe summer. But when I go to the PHOTOS & VIDEOS section, I still can not find any photo catalog of the 4 I-day drop offs. Please help. thx

try to type in the search bar (upper right of main page) 'photo program'. When I do that, I get a link to 2024 plebe summer. If you just joined within the last 24 hours, it may take a day or two for your account to be active. You can check that by clicking on your profile, and seeing if all of the boxes (steps for membership) have green check marks.

Hello all. I found this message here: https://www.usna.edu/PlebeSummer/index.php

5. If the Class of 2024 is in-processing over a four-day period, will there still be an Induction Ceremony in T-Court? Will it be livestreamed for parents to watch?
An induction ceremony will be conducted after the 14-day ROM period. However, due to health concerns related to COVID-19, it will not be open to the public. More information will be provided about this at a later date.
********

Does anybody have more information regarding the Ceremony? Will it be livestreamed for parents?

Thanks.

Thanks, Hoops. You may have just inspired a competition for a faux Bancroft deployment patch to commemorate our liberty lockdown. In fact, NAVADMIN 075/19 now allows a command-approved unit patch in lieu of the DTOM flag in Type III's.

The Oath of Office is set for July 17th (which is also the start of Plebe Summer on that date per the Commandant's daily Instagram brief today). The Oath will occur at both 4 pm and 5 pm EST which makes it sound like the plebes will be in two groups. I think it will be live-streamed but don't think Ih have seen any official word yet.
